Integrated actions by the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), Military Fire Brigade (CBM), and municipal secretariats saved two drowning victims on Sunday afternoon (3) in Salinópolis, northeastern Pará. The rapid response involved the deployment of lifeguard and pre-hospital rescue teams, as well as the support of an operational drone (which facilitated visibility) and a jet ski, essential for locating and approaching the victims, who were more than 300 meters from the area where the waves break.

The victims, women aged 25 and 16, were at Espadarte Beach when the drowning occurred. Both were rescued alive. For occasions like this, a Governance Committee was created in Salinópolis, with the presence of various agencies, both state and municipal, as well as private initiatives, to activate rescue protocols.

The rescue of the women began with the Municipal Health Coordination, a member of the Committee, which was on-site at the time of the incident and immediately alerted the command of the 13th Military Fire Brigade (13th GBM). Military personnel from the corporation coordinated inter-institutional support, activating the readiness protocol at the Regional Hospital to prepare for receiving the victims. The episode reinforces the importance of integrated work among security, health, and Civil Defense agencies on the Pará coast, especially during the holiday season and peak tourist times.

"The creation of the Governance Committee in Salinópolis represents a milestone in inter-institutional articulation. Through it, we can provide faster and more integrated responses to crimes, emergencies, and the demands of the population, strengthening the work of security, health, and social assistance forces in a single axis of action,” said Major Rodrigo Martins do Vale, commander of the 13th Military Fire Brigade of Salinópolis.

Efficiency - Segup, as the coordinator of the "Summer Operation 2025", monitored the entire action through its representative in Salinópolis, Colonel Helderley de Oliveira, who highlighted the synchronized work of the Public Security System as soon as the disappearance of the victims in the sea was reported.

“The work of the Fire Brigade team at the scene was the key point of success. It was not easy to locate them in open sea, under totally unfavorable conditions. The insight and experience of the lifeguards, combined with the logistics present, such as the jet ski and drone technology, were decisive factors for the success of the operation. Just like the integrated work of all the agencies involved, which mobilized to minimize the journey until the patients arrived at the hospital for care. This shows how important the integrated work developed by the State Public Security System is, which managed to provide an immediate response, saving the lives of two people,” he concluded.
