On the morning of this Monday (4), an operation by the Águia 02 team of the Military Police resulted in the recovery of a stolen motorcycle, the seizure of a firearm, and the death of a suspect following police intervention on PA-136, in Castanhal, northeastern Pará.

During a patrol in the city center, around 6:40 AM, the military personnel spotted a duo on an unlicensed motorcycle, resembling the characteristics of the perpetrators of a robbery at a bakery in the Ianetama neighborhood that occurred the day before. Upon receiving a stop order, the duo disobeyed and fled at high speed.

During the chase, which continued towards the municipality of Terra Alta, the suspects fired shots at the police and supporting units. They then abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a wooded area. One of the men was shot, assisted by the police themselves, but did not survive the injuries and died in the hospital. The other managed to escape.

The motorcycle used in the escape had been stolen on August 1 in the Vila de Abade, in Curuçá. Information gathered indicates that the same suspects also attempted to kill a security guard the night before in the same city. So far, the two have not been officially identified.

During the operation, a .38 caliber revolver with five rounds was seized. The occurrence was presented at the Central Police Station, where appropriate legal measures will be taken. Searches for the second suspect continue.

The commander of the 5th BPM, Lieutenant Colonel Gilberto, highlighted the commitment of the teams involved. "The prompt response of the Military Police was essential to recover a stolen asset and prevent further crimes. The actions of our police officers were technical, swift, and within the law," stated the officer.
