The Pará Economic Development Company (Codec) held an online meeting on Monday (4) with representatives from the Municipality of Breves, in the Marajó Archipelago. This action is part of the State government's strategy to provide technical support to the municipalities of Pará in the investment attraction process, aiming to strengthen local development.

The meeting was led by Augusto César Anunciação, Institutional Relations Manager of the Strategy and Institutional Relations Directorate of Codec, with participation from the Manager of Development and Economic Studies, Aline Tavares, and the Director's advisor, Evandro Diniz, as well as Mayor José Antônio Azevedo Leão (Xarão Leão), the Secretary of Administration, Soraya Carames; Institutional Relations Advisor, Ana Paula Araújo, and the Director of Heritage Lands, Fabrício Castro.

Codec presented the technical work plan to be developed in partnership with the Municipality, including the survey of infrastructure and available areas, guidance on tax incentives, the preparation of the Investor's Guide, and the holding of an Economic Development Seminar.

“Codec has a total interest in supporting the Municipality of Breves with technical tools that help structure a favorable environment for the establishment of enterprises. Economic development begins with organization, planning, and partnership. This is the role of the State alongside the municipalities,” emphasized Augusto César.

The Municipality of Breves counts on the State's partnership to develop the economy and generate jobs

Cooperation - The signing of a new protocol of intentions between the State government, through Codec, and the Municipality of Breves was proposed, formalizing institutional cooperation and reinforcing the technical support of the Company.

The Director of Heritage Lands, Fabrício Castro, presented data on companies that have already shown interest in establishing themselves in the region, especially in the area planned for the future industrial district of the municipality. Among them is the company Allmazon, which has already acquired an area of 10 hectares to invest in the production and export of açaí. Possibilities and prospects for the implementation of another açaí processing industry and a factory for rabetas, typical vessels of the Amazon region, were also discussed.

Mayor Xarão Leão highlighted the importance of the partnership with Codec to realize the industrial project of Breves. “We thank the partnership with the State government, through Codec. Our municipality has been aiming for the effective operation of the industrial district for some years now. We already have interested companies, and we want to move forward with organization and technical support. We also emphasize the importance of local commerce in this process, and we seek to better understand the application of the Tax Incentive Law, to ensure that the enterprises that settle here can grow and generate jobs for our population,” stated the manager.

Commitment - Codec has previously been in the municipality on other occasions, such as at the inaugural hearing of the bidding for the district project, and in technical field visits, reaffirming its commitment to the development of the Marajó Archipelago. The next step includes the signing of the renewal of the protocol of intention and the survey of socioeconomic data, with the support of state agencies, to underpin future actions of the partnership.

Currently, the project for the implementation of the Industrial District of Breves is in the final phase of hiring the company that will develop the Executive Project of the enterprise, with its own resources, at a cost of R$ 543,070.24.
