The last weekend of July, on the 26th and 27th, was lively at Parque da Cidade in Belém. Since the equipment was delivered on June 27, the space has become one of the largest meeting points in the city, focusing on leisure, sports, culture, and fun. Every weekend has been filled with various cultural programs promoted by the State Government through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult).

On Sunday, the 27th, the first performance was by Cleber Cajun at 5 PM, featuring clowning that delighted the children. "I work with theater, visual arts, I say I am a 'worker of the sensitive'. I like poetic works that refer to childhood. I circulate in this place of lightness, of delicacy," he said.

"So, performing here in the park is also a joy for me because I like meeting people, especially children. And we always seek new ways to, let's say, find people within people, through a feeling that unites us all. I believe a lot in the power of beauty, of affections," Cajun added.

Later, the marronzinho ox workshop, also led by Cajun, brought a bit of popular culture through crafts with paints, ribbons, and stickers. "I imagine that children can be these new guardians of popular culture. And I really like that; I am a popular artist," he concluded.

Engineer Paulo de França came to the park for the third time with his wife and two children, who enjoyed the children's activities. "Now at the end of the afternoon, it's more comfortable, so we try to come at this time, and they are having fun, I think it's because of this interaction too, due to the performance, them participating in the dance, painting the oxen," the engineer said.

"I was looking at the skate track and here at the performance, then the ox I made here, like a mix of colors, I put the stickers on the nose and eyes," said Guilherme, nine years old, Paulo de França's eldest son.

Finally, closing the cultural program, the group Charme do Choro enchanted the audience with one of the most original styles of Brazilian music. One of the founders of the group composed of five women, Camila Alves talks about the career and the importance of bringing Choro to public spaces.

"We have been on the road for a while, since 2006. In our beginning, this was more common, playing a lot in squares, so Choro had this thing of playing in the bandstand. Here is a differentiated bandstand, a bit modern, and I was missing this type of programming. We always play like this, close to people, and that is cool, it is gratifying; we see that, in fact, what is missing is the opportunity for people to get to know the style. Many people do not have such easy access, and this type of programming allows that, for the music to reach all kinds of people, to all social classes. It is really very, very important, and that this continues and happens more and more," said musician Camila Alves.

Social worker Eluana Matos visited the park for the first time and watched all the performances. "I think it's amazing, the beautiful environment, everything organized, a lot of people, I didn't expect so many people, but the people of Belém are enjoying it a lot. I was surprised because I came thinking there would be no attractions, then I got here and encountered theater, music, and the skate championship, anyway, wonderful."

"Everything that brings the population together in general, children, to art, to culture, for free, is valuable. You arrive, come to stroll, like I did, not expecting, and encounter a grand spectacle, full of poetry, of philosophy, is certainly very good," concluded social worker Eluana Matos.

On the last Saturday, the 26th, the performances included the scenic show "Pará pai d’égua" and carimbó with the Grupo Iaçá. In addition to the grand opening show of the new public equipment on June 27, with Dona Onete, Arraial do Pavulagem, and Zaynara, Secult promoted an extensive program of cultural attractions for all weekends in July at Parque da Cidade. From dance to music, theater, clowning, among other shows strategically designed to cater to all audiences that filled the park during this period.
