On the afternoon of this Thursday (24), the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the Directorate of Public Security Policies and Social Prevention (DPS), carried out a preventive action against sexual violence against children at Parque da Cidade, in Belém.

About 40 children participated in the program, which playfully addressed themes about care and necessary actions in risky situations. One of the activities carried out was the presentation of the "Touch Traffic Light", demonstrating to children and adolescents which parts of the body can be touched, when attention and care are needed, and those that cannot be touched, emphasizing that, in case of risk, they should signal to an adult.

Interaction - For Ualame Machado, head of Segup, the awareness action is essential to ensure the prevention of crimes against children and adolescents, bringing public servants closer to the community, and demonstrating that the Security System is available not only for repression but also for the prevention of crimes.

“Moments like this are strategic for having a closer approach to the population, in a space where they can interact and in a language they can learn about important care, so that we can prevent crimes against them from occurring. Therefore, today not only the children were guided, but also the responsible adults present. We will continue to strengthen actions and improve existing tools to combat this type of violence and protect our children even more,” said the secretary.

Using an accessible strategy, children learn to defend themselves from violence

For visitors to the Park who participated in the action, it is important to ensure access to this information, which enhances the protection of children and guarantees peace of mind to parents and guardians, as it shows the commitment and care that the State government has in combating sexual violence against children and youth.

Service: The crime of sexual violence against children is covered by article 217 - A of the Penal Code. Any practice can be reported to the official channels of the Public Security System. Segup provides the Disque-Denúncia (181), with total confidentiality and anonymity, and WhatsApp (91) 98115-9181 with the virtual attendant Iara. Both allow the population to contribute to the security forces in combating crime and clarifying cases.
