The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), was in the Guamá neighborhood of Belém on Thursday (17), the site of a fire that affected eight families. Seaster's work includes assessing immediate needs and awaits the socioeconomic report from the Municipal Department of Social Assistance so that, subsequently, the payment of an eventual benefit to the affected families can be authorized.

"The Government of Pará remains committed to the population that needs it most, and through this support we can ensure that these families have assistance to start over. Our role is to stand by these people and provide adequate conditions for them to overcome this difficult moment," emphasized Inocencio Gasparim, head of Seaster.

Dignity - Eventual Benefits are provided for in the Organic Law of Social Assistance (Loas) and offered to citizens and families who do not have the means to face adverse situations on their own, such as birth, death, temporary vulnerability, or public calamity — circumstances that compromise the maintenance of life with dignity. The benefit is granted for about three months, in an amount equivalent to one minimum wage per month.

This action is part of the public policy of social protection implemented by Seaster, which works to guarantee rights and address emergency situations. The goal is to promote dignity, income security, and a fresh start for vulnerable families, reaffirming the Government's commitment to increasingly humanized and efficient social assistance.

Only in 2024, the Government of Pará, through Seaster, allocated more than R$ 238,000.00 in benefits to families affected by disasters. Of this total, more than R$ 74,000 were allocated solely to beneficiaries residing in the capital of Pará.
