Documentary about Cazuza premieres this Thursday (17) at Cine Líbero Luxardo
Other highlights of the program include the Japanese psychological thriller 'Cloud' and the Brazilian documentary 'Yõg ãtak: My Father, Kaiowá'

Cine Líbero Luxardo presents a standout program starting this Thursday (17) with the premiere of the documentary “Cazuza, Boas Novas”, in addition to the Japanese psychological thriller “Cloud – Revenge Cloud” and the award-winning Brazilian documentary “Yõg ãtak: My Father, Kaiowá”. The films will be showing until next Wednesday (23) at the cinema located in Centur, the headquarters of the Cultural Foundation of Pará, in Belém.
The documentary “Cazuza, Boas Novas” dives into one of the most intense and creative periods of the life of singer and songwriter Cazuza. Between 1987 and early 1989, already diagnosed with AIDS and facing the worsening of the disease, the artist experienced a true artistic explosion: he released three albums, won several awards, and performed over 40 shows with “O Tempo Não Para”, which would become a milestone in his career.
Directed by Nilo Romero — musician, personal friend, and musical director of Cazuza's last show — and co-directed by Roberto Moret, the film brings together rare archival footage, never-before-seen videos, and emotional testimonies from names like Ney Matogrosso, Gilberto Gil, Frejat, and Lucinha Araújo. The feature reveals Cazuza's creative urgency, his struggle to leave a legacy, and the profound impact he had on his generation.

“Cloud – Revenge Cloud”: Japanese suspense selected from Japan for the 2025 Oscars.
Also showing is the film “Cloud – Revenge Cloud”, by renowned Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa, which mixes psychological suspense and social criticism. The plot revolves around a young man who, in search of easy profit, begins reselling cheap products at high prices online. This practice generates outrage among customers, who decide to take revenge, triggering a series of mysterious and threatening events that put the protagonist's life at risk.
The feature was selected to represent Japan in the race for a spot at the 2025 Oscars and was named by IndieWire magazine as one of the best films of the decade. Kurosawa, known as the “master of horror”, is behind cult works such as Pulse (2001), Cure (1997), and Creepy (2016), as well as award-winning dramas like Tokyo Sonata (2008) and The Woman of a Spy (2020), winner of the Silver Lion for Best Direction at the Venice Film Festival.

“Yõg ãtak: My Father, Kaiowá”: memory, identity, and indigenous resistance.
The Brazilian documentary “Yõg ãtak: My Father, Kaiowá”, directed by Sueli Maxakali and Maísa Maxakali, narrates the filmmakers' search for their father, Luis Kaiowá, from whom they were separated in childhood during the military dictatorship. The film follows this personal and profound journey, intertwined with the struggles of the Tikmũ’ũn and Kaiowá indigenous peoples for the preservation of their territories, cultures, and ways of life.
The production has stood out in the national circuit: it participated in the Tiradentes Show and the Olhar de Cinema Festival, both in 2025; won the Best Direction award at the Brasília Festival of Brazilian Cinema (2024); received an Honorable Mention at the Ecofalante Cinema Show (2025); and was voted Best Film by the Popular Jury at CachoeiraDoc 2025.
