Integrated Rehabilitation Center hosts another blood donation campaign

With the support of the Hemopa Foundation, the action aims to ensure the maintenance of the blood supply during the school vacation month

Professionals and users (with their companions) of the Integrated Inclusion and Rehabilitation Center (CIIR) and the Specialized Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (Cetea), in Belém, participated this Friday (11) in another edition of the blood donation campaign held in partnership with the Hemopa Foundation. With the theme "Before Traveling, make a difference! Donate Blood and Save Lives!", the action aimed to reinforce the blood bank stocks in July, when donations usually decrease due to school vacations and travel.

The campaign collected 87 bags of blood

The initiative was held from 8 am to 4 pm, with two mobilization points: the mobile unit of Hemopa, parked at CIIR, and a caravan organized by Cetea, which took volunteers to the Foundation's headquarters in the Batista Campos neighborhood.

Since 2022, CIIR has been receiving blood collection at its headquarters, which strengthens the partnership with Hemopa and expands access to the service.

Balance - For Nazaré Saldanha, social worker at the Donor Recruitment Management (Gecad) of the Hemopa Foundation, the action goes beyond the act of donating blood. "The proposal is to bring the service, facilitate access for both employees and users of the services, parents and mothers. It is a partnership that has yielded great fruits, which has helped maintain and balance the stock, because we close specific and seasonal dates, such as July and December," she informed.

In addition to reinforcing public health, the presence of the mobile unit at CIIR ensures accessibility. "Today, we are bringing our mobile unit, which guarantees the inclusion of people with disabilities and wheelchair users. Thus, it is a two-way street in the institution," Nazaré Saldanha added.

The campaign was coordinated by the Humanization Working Group (GTH) of CIIR and had wide participation from the internal public. For the unit's Assistant Director, Maria do Carmo Freitas, the initiative strengthens the atmosphere of unity and empathy. "The importance lies in the union of patient, employee, and community for each other, at a time when blood stocks decrease, and we need this donation, this act of love for the community," emphasized the director.

Impact - Stories like that of Shirley Canafístula, 38 years old, show the direct impact of solidarity. Mother of a user with a physical disability, in rehabilitation at CIIR, Shirley took advantage of her visit to her daughter to donate blood for the second time. "I brought my daughter for rehabilitation and found out that there was a solidarity action here, and I came to make my blood donation for the second time. After many years, I decided to donate again, as my daughter needed a blood donation last month, and out of an act of love, many people donated. I decided to give back by donating again and continue donating whenever needed," she said.

She added that, "today, my feeling is one of gratitude, as my daughter needed a lot, and I couldn't do that for her. Today, I come to give back what many people did."

Among the professionals at CIIR, the gesture was also repeated. Luã Tavares, a recreationist from the Arts and Culture Sector, participated in the action for the second time. "It is very important. People need to donate blood to help others. Here at CIIR, whenever I can, I come to collaborate," said Luã.

At the end of the day, the campaign recorded, both at the Center and at Cetea, 87 bags of blood collected, which can benefit up to 348 people. More than a health action, the event reaffirms the role of CIIR as a public institution committed to humanized care, inclusion, and strengthening a culture of solidarity.

CIIR is a reference in Pará for medium and high complexity assistance to people with visual, physical, auditory, and intellectual disabilities. Users can access the Center's services through referrals from health units, welcomed by the Regulation Center of each municipality, which in turn forwards to State Regulation. The request will be analyzed according to the user's profile by the State Regulation System (SER).

Service: The Integrated Inclusion and Rehabilitation Center is an agency of the Government of Pará managed by the National Institute of Social and Human Development (INDSH), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa).
