On the afternoon of this Thursday (10), a team from the Forensic Chemistry Laboratory of the Scientific Police of Pará (PCEPA) examined the drug seized from a truck transported by a vessel from Manaus. The seizure occurred at the port of Belém during a cargo inspection conducted by teams from the State Narcotics Division (Denarc) and the Police Intelligence Unit (NIP) of the Civil Police of Pará. The operation was supported by information provided by the Narcotics Investigation Department (Denarc) of the Civil Police of Amazonas.

The examination found 174kg of marijuana divided into 152 bricks. The seized material was stored inside several electric fryers of the Air Fryer type. According to investigations by the Civil Police, the destination of the illicit cargo was the city of Natal, in Rio Grande do Norte.

"The drug was described, weighed, and counter-samples were sent to the forensic laboratory of PCEPA, where they will undergo further confirmatory tests," said the forensic expert of PCEPA, Bianca Passinho.

The report will support the disposal of all the seized product, which will be taken for incineration by the Civil Police. “The integration between the Civil Police and the Scientific Police is essential for strengthening criminal investigations. Joint action ensures greater efficiency and legal security, especially in cases of large drug seizures, where technical expertise contributes to the precise identification of the substance, quantification, and proper recording of the seized material. This partnership strengthens the inquiry, ensures the chain of custody, and increases effectiveness in combating drug trafficking,” said Isabela Barretto, director of the Criminalistics Institute of PCEPA.
