Civil Police launches operation 'Silence's Grandparents' and arrests man in Belém
Action fulfilled a court order for the crime of sexual abuse of a vulnerable person

A man was arrested on the morning of Thursday (10) in the Tenoné neighborhood of Belém during the operation "Silence's Grandparents," launched to execute a preventive arrest warrant and a search and seizure warrant for the crime of sexual abuse of a vulnerable person against an 11-year-old child.
The action was conducted by the Specialized Police Station for the Care of Children and Adolescents (DEACA/CPC), with support from the Working Group for Supporting Vulnerable Persons (GTV/NIP), both linked to the Directorate for the Care of Vulnerable Groups (DAV) of the Civil Police of Pará.

According to the investigations, the crime occurred between the night of June 14 and the early morning of June 15, when the child was under the care of the investigated individual, considered a trusted person by the family.
The man allegedly took advantage of the absence of the child's guardian to commit the abuses. After the crimes, the victim reported the events to her maternal grandmother, who initially accepted the account but later deleted a recording made by the child that contained evidence of the abuses, raising suspicions of an attempt to conceal evidence.
“Despite this, the complaint was formalized. We immediately began the investigations, gathering various pieces of evidence, including specialized listening of the victim, intelligence operations, and witness testimonies. Based on the evidence, we requested the preventive arrest of the suspect, which was granted by the Justice,” highlights delegate João Castanho from DEACA.
The arrest was made around 6:30 AM, and the suspect was taken to the police unit for interrogation. After the procedures, he was sent to the prison system, where he will remain at the disposal of the Judiciary.

About the action - The operation “Silence's Grandparents” alludes to the perverse family dynamics revealed during the investigation, in which both the investigated individual, treated as a grandfather figure by the children, and the victim's maternal grandmother acted to try to silence the child and conceal the crimes committed.
“The operation therefore represents the breaking of this cycle of silencing, reinforcing the State's commitment to protect children and adolescents, regardless of who the authors or accomplices of the abuses are,” explains delegate João.
