The Institute for Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio) was present at the delivery of the Usina da Paz in Bragança, with an important contribution to sustainability and environmental education in the northeastern region of Pará. During the ceremony on Monday (7), the agency delivered a nursery with the capacity to produce up to 600 seedlings of forest and fruit species, consolidating its commitment to reforestation and environmental citizenship.

As part of the delivery, the nursery has already been stocked with 460 seedlings ready for distribution. Among them, species such as cupuaçu, açaí, cocoa, acapu, coffee, Brazil nut, rambutan, andiroba, pau preto, cumaru, paricá, ingá cipó, as well as pink and yellow ipês stand out. The goal is to provide raw material for urban greening actions, recovery of degraded areas, and encouragement of sustainable cultivation in backyards and properties in the region.

Coordinated by the Forest Chain Development Directorate (DDF) of the Institute, the action seeks to encourage urban and rural reforestation practices while promoting ecological awareness among the residents of Bragança. The initiative complements public policies for sustainable development brought to the Usinas da Paz, integrating social inclusion, education, and environmental preservation.

Social Transformation - The president of Ideflor-Bio, Nilson Pinto, highlighted the transformative potential of the project. “The delivery of this nursery reinforces our commitment to sustainability and environmental education. We want the community, especially the youth, to understand the importance of forest recovery and actively engage in the preservation of our biodiversity,” said the manager.

According to the environmental management technician at Ideflor-Bio, Kássya Oliveira, the space plays an essential role in bringing the population closer to Amazonian species. “This nursery is an opportunity to connect with the forest. Environmental education begins with knowledge of the species that surround us,” she explained, reinforcing the educational aspect of the initiative.

Expectation - The community of Bragança received the news with enthusiasm. José Maria Santiago, born and raised in the municipality and captain of the traditional Marujada, celebrated the arrival of the new green space. “I am very happy with the Usina and see this nursery as a way to encourage reforestation. I think it is important for the youth of the city to have this contact with nature,” he declared.

For the head of the DDF, Vicente Neto, the delivery of the nursery in Bragança integrates the set of actions of Ideflor-Bio aimed at environmental recovery, ecological education, and strengthening environmental citizenship in Pará. “The goal is that all future Usinas da Paz delivered by the State Government will have similar structures, promoting the planting of seedlings in urban, rural, and school areas, and strengthening the protection of Amazonian biodiversity,” emphasized the director.
