Artran intensifies fight against illegal transportation in the south and southeast of Pará
In less than a month, four buses and passenger vehicles were seized for operating illegally on intermunicipal routes. Actions will be reinforced throughout the month of July

The Public Transport Regulation and Control Agency (Artran) has initiated a new phase of inspection in the southern and southeastern regions of the State, focusing on repressing illegal passenger transportation. Under the newly appointed management, the Agency seized four buses and several passenger vehicles in operations carried out in strategic municipalities such as Tucuruí, Parauapebas, and Xinguara.
The irregular operation of companies that have authorization only for interstate routes but operate on intermunicipal lines has been the target of the operations. One of the most emblematic cases was that of a bus on the Teresina-Tucuruí line, seized while transporting passengers between municipalities without authorization from the State Regulatory Agency.
“We are reestablishing control over intermunicipal public transport. It is not just a legal issue, but a matter of safety and respect for the user. Illegal transport is a risk to life, and our mission is to curb this rigorously,” stated Artran's Inspection Director, Wildson Mello.
With the absence of effective oversight by federal agencies, some companies have begun to improperly exploit the intermunicipal system, causing losses to regular operators and jeopardizing passenger safety.
“Legality must prevail. Those who invest to comply with the rules cannot be penalized for the omission of those who operate outside the law. We are vigilant and will continue to inspect to ensure a fair and safe service for the population,” reinforced the Road Transport Coordinator of Artran, José Cruz.
Inspections will be intensified in the coming weeks, especially due to the increase in passenger demand during the school vacation period. In addition to curbing the operation of illegal transporters, Artran also inspects regulated companies to ensure that they have up-to-date documentation, inspections, and safety items.
