The Government of Pará is advancing to the final stages of the construction of the New Mangueirão Olympic Park in Belém. Located between the Edgar Proença Journalist Stadium and the Guilherme Paraense Arena (Mangueirinho), the complex is another public facility of the State, aimed at strengthening sports and leisure for the population of the Metropolitan Region of the capital.

The space will serve children, youth, and adults, providing more quality of life by encouraging sports practices as a means of promoting health and entertainment, and especially as an element of social transformation.

“We are finalizing the last details of this project executed by the Government of Pará. We will deliver an area not only for football but also for other modalities, such as footvolley, volleyball, basketball, and handball. And everything with the necessary infrastructure to welcome the population from neighborhoods like Mangueirão, Benguí, and Parque Verde, as well as people coming from other cities to socialize in a place that always keeps our vocation and passion for sports alive,” highlighted the State Secretary of Public Works, Ruy Cabral.

With 98% of the services completed, the New Mangueirão Olympic Park features two multipurpose courts, a sand court, two bleachers, drainage services for the area, as well as asphalt paving for access and public lighting.

The finishing services of the project, executed by the State Secretary of Public Works (Seop), are being carried out in an area of approximately 121 thousand square meters, expanding leisure options associated with the New Mangueirão. The services also include the construction of parking lots G, H, and I of the main sports square in Pará.

Partnership - The State Secretary of Penitentiary Administration (Seap) is also involved in this important project, which aims to further stimulate the practice of sports activities among children, youth, and adults. A team composed of 40 inmates from Seap is working at the New Mangueirão Sports Complex.

“In recent years, Seap, through prison work and the collaboration of partners like Seop, has stood out in several major projects in Pará,” emphasized Belchior Machado, director of Work and Production at Seap. “These partnerships are essential, as they unite the awareness of inmates, urban development, and society's reflection on the importance of creating opportunities for people in the process of social reintegration,” added the director.
