Pará presents destinations for travel agents and tour operators at Expocatólica
The space dedicated to religious tourism was created to promote the destinations of this segment in Brazil and other countries, highlighting shrines, historic churches, pilgrimages, routes, and tourist spots of religious manifestation.

The State of Pará is present at Expocatólica 2025, held from July 3 to 6 at the Pro Magno Event Center in São Paulo. Considered the largest showcase of religious tourism in Brazil and the most visited Catholic fair in the world, the event brings together more than 200 exhibitors and around 30,000 visitors. With the expectation of reaching over 1 million people through parallel actions, the fair is a strategic platform for promoting destinations of faith, culture, and tradition.

At the Pará booth, the State Tourism Secretariat (Setur) presented itineraries that combine religiosity, cultural identity, and symbolic richness, enchanting the audience with representations such as the Círio de Nazaré, the Marujada of Bragança, and the Sairé of Alter do Chão. The participation was marked by strong engagement with travel agents, tour operators, and the general public.
“Participating in Expocatólica is a strategic opportunity to present Pará as a destination of faith, culture, and tradition. We are the stage for unique religious manifestations that move and connect people from different places,” said Victor Lopes, Marketing Coordinator of Setur. He also highlighted that religious tourism not only strengthens local communities but also boosts the economy and preserves authentic cultural expressions of the people of Pará.

The space dedicated to religious tourism at Expocatólica was created to promote the destinations of this segment in Brazil and other countries, highlighting shrines, historic churches, routes and tourist spots, pilgrimages, museums, festivals, and traditional religious events, presented by churches, states, or municipalities of the tourist destinations.
The presence of Pará also impacted travel agents, such as Gabriel Solon from Família Solon Viagens in Alagoas. After participating in the fair in 2024 and visiting Belém during Recírio, he decided to return in 2025 with an even larger group to experience the Círio de Nazaré. “The presentation of Pará at Expocatólica enchanted us. We already have the spots sold for this year's Círio. The fair enriched our knowledge regarding hotels, attractions, and itinerary possibilities,” he shared.
For tourism expert Carlos Figueira from the Setur team, participating in Expocatólica is a way to express the symbolic strength of faith manifestations in Pará. “Bringing a bit of what this great manifestation is, which gathers more than two million people on the second Sunday of October in Belém, is something unique. Being here dressed as a marujo of the Irmandade de São Benedito and also presenting the Marujada of Bragança, with its more than two centuries of tradition, enchants the audience and reinforces our cultural identity,” he stated.
