Hospital de Clínicas promotes 39th Blood Donation Campaign
The mobilization involved staff, patients, and visitors; 230 blood bags were collected. The campaign reinforces the stocks for July and highlights social responsibility in supporting transfusion assistance.
On July 1st and 2nd, the Gaspar Vianna Clinical Hospital (HC) in Belém held the 39th edition of the blood donation campaign in partnership with the Hemopa Foundation. Conducted within the unit, in a space equipped for collections, the action reinforces the commitment to solidarity, especially during the school vacation period when blood stocks tend to drop.
With the theme "Sustainability starts with solidarity: donate blood", the campaign united human and environmental care, encouraging the population to donate as a gesture of empathy and collective commitment.
"Each donor signed a sheet and showed that in the Amazon, taking care of people also means taking care of the planet. They made a double difference: saving lives and strengthening our roots," highlighted Aline Rodrigues, psychologist and president of the Blood Donation Committee of HC.
Inspiring stories
Among the donors, staff member Aline Leão da Costa from the Teaching and Research Management (GEP) participated for the third time.
"I always wanted to, but I was also very apprehensive. Now, in addition to being a blood donor, I am also a bone marrow donor. I have been through situations that showed me how necessary donation is. And here, with all the structure, everything is much more relaxed," she stated.
Strategic partnership
The campaign is part of the permanent calendar of actions of Hemopa and reinforces the partnership with HC, as highlighted by Betânia Mourão, social worker from the Donor Recruitment Management (GECAD).
"We entered the vacation period with the concern of maintaining the stocks. HC is a reference in cardiac surgeries and serves chronic renal patients, which requires a constant reserve. This campaign is essential and is already part of a consolidated partnership," she stated.
Who can donate blood
- Be between 16 and 69 years old (minors under 18 with authorization from guardians);
- Weigh more than 50 kg;
- Be in good health;
- Have slept at least 6 hours;
- Be well-fed, avoiding fats in the 3 hours prior;
- Present a photo ID (physical or digital);
- Men can donate up to 4 times a year (minimum interval of 60 days); women, up to 3 times (interval of 90 days).
