Codec promotes seminar to structure economic development actions in Capanema
During a seminar held in the municipality, strategies were discussed for strengthening commerce, expanding the productive base, industrialization, and attracting new investments

The Government of Pará, through the Pará Economic Development Company (Codec), held on Tuesday (1st), in partnership with the Capanema City Hall, the Economic Development Seminar of the municipality. The event, held at the local Sebrae auditorium, brought together public managers, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and representatives of institutions to discuss pathways for sustainable growth in the region.
This action is part of the Program for Strengthening the Productive Segment of Pará, coordinated by Codec, which supports municipalities in attracting investments, enhancing local economic activities, and decentralizing economic development in the state.
Tourism potential and new structure - Mayor Claudionor Moreira highlighted that commerce is already one of the pillars of the local economy, and the municipality is now focusing on tourism as a new vector for development. He mentioned Corpus Christi, considered a cultural heritage of the state, as one of the main opportunities to consolidate Capanema as a tourist destination.

“We are investing in structuring projects, such as the tourist and events park, with leisure, bathing, and community areas. This has boosted commerce and contributed to enhancing our city,” said the manager.
The Secretary of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism, Ozemeire Batista, emphasized that the seminar helped align ongoing actions, now with technical support from Codec, and highlighted Capanema's receptive potential to attract new investments.

Socioeconomic panorama - The technical team from Codec, represented by Evandro Diniz and Aline Tavares, presented data from Fapespa that outlines a detailed profile of the local economy. According to the survey, the municipality has over 9,000 formal jobs, with 52% in commerce and 37.5% in the service sector. Industry represents 8.4%, indicating growth potential for the sector.
In agriculture, Capanema stands out in cassava production, with 348,000 tons harvested in the last five years. The municipality also shows good performance in livestock, aquaculture, and bean production.
Another highlight was the performance in foreign trade, with over US$ 642,000 exported between 2018 and 2023, mainly to markets such as Mexico, Belgium, Japan, and China, with products like meats, flours, and fruits.

Proposals and local listening - Codec presented a portfolio of strategic actions aimed at expanding the productive base, strengthening local chains, providing technical support for entrepreneurship, and creating a Capanema Investor's Guide. Among the highlights is the cement chain, with potential for expansion due to the presence of the company Cibrasa and the possibility of attracting businesses in logistics, concrete plants, and precast.
The seminar also provided space for direct listening to local entrepreneurs, such as artisan Francisca Santana, who advocated for more support for the creative economy, and entrepreneur Maisa Lopes, who pointed out the difficulty of accessing suppliers as a barrier for the events and food sector.

Interiorization of development - At the end of the meeting, the Codec technical team reinforced the State Government's commitment to the economic development of the interior and highlighted that Capanema has all the conditions to become a regional reference, with coordinated support between the public power and civil society.
“The municipality has consolidated vocations and a favorable environment for growth. Our work is to unite efforts to transform this potential into real opportunities for the population,” concluded manager Aline Tavares.
