Artran reinforces commitment to navigation safety during the Summer Operation 2025
The agency intensifies inspections to ensure safe travels and combat illegal transportation in the Metropolitan Region of Belém

The Regulatory and Control Agency for Public Transport Services (Artran) participated, last Saturday (28), in a strategic meeting at the port of Praça Princesa Isabel, in the Condor neighborhood of Belém. The meeting marked the official start of the Summer Operation 2025, which brings together various state agencies such as the Military Police, Civil Police, Fire Department, and the Public Security Secretariat (Segup), in addition to the Port Authority of the Brazilian Navy.
The objective of the operation is to integrate efforts to prevent nautical accidents and reinforce safety on vessels circulating through the islands of the Metropolitan Region of Belém. “It was a meeting where we discussed the plans for navigation safety during the summer and the holidays, focusing on protecting the population and curbing illegal transportation,” explained Moisés Marques, technical coordinator of Aquatic Transport at Artran.
According to Moisés, with the increase in passenger and vessel flow in July, the Agency will intensify inspections at the hydroviary terminals. Technical teams will closely monitor departures and arrivals, checking compliance with regulations such as the correct number of crew members, tickets sold, gratuities, and authorized schedules.
“The State Government, through Artran, has a great concern for the safety of the population, especially during the summer. We are monitoring regular vessels and acting firmly to ensure that all are within the regulations,” emphasized Marques. He also highlights that in addition to the presence at the terminals, Artran also operates in administrative processes and inspections at the ports of Belém and the islands, in partnership with other security agencies.
Results of the first weekend - In the first weekend of the operation, held on June 28 and 29, more than 40 agents participated in the actions, resulting in the inspection of 15 vessels, 21 jet skis, and 45 commercial establishments in the riverside areas. The presence of integrated teams will be maintained throughout July, with special reinforcement on weekends in the islands of Cotijuba, Prainha, Combu, as well as ports and waterfronts of Belém.
