HGT Opens Playroom and Brings Joy to Hospitalized Children
Welcoming environment offers recreational and educational activities for hospitalized children and those attended in the outpatient clinic

The General Hospital of Tailândia (HGT), in southeastern Pará, inaugurated the new spaces of its playroom on the morning of this Monday (30), aimed at welcoming and entertaining hospitalized children and those attended in the pediatric outpatient clinic. The initiative seeks to alleviate the hospital routine and provide moments of leisure, learning, and interaction for the little patients and their families.
The ceremony was attended by child patients, family members, staff, and representatives of the hospital's management. Symbolically, two young patients participated in the official opening by cutting the ribbon that marked the beginning of activities in the new space. Afterwards, the children got to know the facilities, now equipped with toys and furniture suitable for children.

The pedagogue at HGT, Elizabett Gomes, explains that the playroom has an outdoor area with seesaws and collective toys, in addition to a main room where educational activities and visits are held.
"Our goal is to offer a welcoming environment that helps the child feel safer during hospitalization. The pedagogical activities contribute to development and better adaptation to the hospital environment," she emphasized.
The inauguration featured a June festival theme, with photo panels and typical foods. The Humanization Working Group (GTH) promoted dynamics and games with the little ones, making the morning even more special.

Space approved by families
The initiative was praised by companions such as Maria Elizabeth, mother of little Arthur Lorenzo, 3 years old, who has been hospitalized for 11 days in the unit.
"The playroom helps a lot. A child hospitalized for many days ends up getting stressed. This space is important for them to be able to leave the room and play. My son is visibly happier when he is there. Everything is very beautiful and well organized," she reported.
In the first five months of 2025, the space has already recorded more than 200 receptions. The activities are conducted by a pedagogue, who provides educational and recreational support during hospitalization.

Care beyond treatment
The executive director of HGT, Eduardo Pereira, emphasized the importance of the initiative, which reinforces the policy of humanization in hospital care. "The playroom expands the possibilities of comprehensive care, allowing children to experience moments of learning and socialization even during treatment. It is the result of a collective effort aimed at the well-being of our patients," said the manager.
HGT is a unit of the state public health network and has 51 beds, including an Intermediate Care Unit (ICU) with nine beds — six for adults and three for pediatrics. The hospital serves exclusively through the Unified Health System (SUS), with services regulated via the Municipal Central, in addition to urgent and emergency cases referred by free demand, Samu, Fire Department, and Highway Police.
