A resident of Bragança, in northeastern Pará, housekeeper Hilda Soares is eagerly following the completion of the Usina da Paz (UsiPaz) construction in the municipality, expected to be delivered this July.

"The expectation is high. I already know there will be citizenship, education, health, and sports services. It will be an opportunity for everyone," she celebrates.

The UsiPaz in Bragança will be the 15th unit delivered by the State Government. Located on Juscelino Kubitschek Avenue, in the Vila Sinhá neighborhood, the modern structure has about 7,000 m² of built area and will offer more than 70 free services to the population in areas such as health, social assistance, culture, leisure, citizenship, and professional qualification.

For Hilda, the complex represents an important advancement for the city. "With vocational courses and other activities in a safe space, the Usina will help take young people away from crime. It is a great strategy," she states.

A new era for Bragança

The Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga, emphasizes the transformative impact of the initiative. "Soon, we will be delivering a space that represents citizenship and a new era for Bragança. The Usina da Paz will be a landmark of development and inclusion for the entire region."

The UsiPaz are part of the Territories for Peace program (TerPaz), and have already totaled over 9.9 million services since 2021. The complexes bring together services for document issuance, legal guidance, medical, dental, and psychological care, as well as libraries, study rooms, vocational courses, and much more.

The structure of the Bragantina unit includes two main buildings, the Usina building and the Assistance building, as well as areas dedicated to leisure and sports practice, such as a multipurpose gym, sand court, outdoor gym, theater, playground, and swimming pool.

Taxi driver Rosinaldo Santos, who has lived in the city for 18 years, also celebrates the arrival of the complex. "The neighborhood is already calmer with the increase in policing. The Usina will bring training and further enhance the city," he assesses.

Reduction of violence - The Usinas da Paz have also generated significant results in public safety. In neighborhoods where they have been installed, the rates of Intentional Violent Lethal Crimes (CVLI) have shown a reduction of up to 90%, highlighting the positive impact of the initiative in promoting peace and improving quality of life.

Currently, 14 units are fully operational in Belém (Jurunas/Condor, Guamá, Terra Firme, Bengui, and Cabanagem); in the municipalities of Ananindeua, Marituba, Benevides, and Castanhal, in the Metropolitan Region; Capanema in Caeté, Abaetetuba, in Baixo Tocantins, and Marabá, Parauapebas, and Canaã dos Carajás, in southeastern Pará.

In addition to Bragança, another 22 new UsiPaz are under construction in the cities of Altamira, Cametá, Paragominas, Tucuruí, Santa Izabel do Pará, Redenção, Itaituba, Santarém, Viseu, Igarapé-Miri, Barcarena, Breves, Dom Eliseu, São Miguel do Guamá, Portel, Moju, Parauapebas (second Usina), Óbidos, Salinópolis, Tomé-Açu, São Félix do Xingu, and Belém, in the Icoaraci district.
