Reference in orthopedics, Hospital Galileu enhances care with the support of radiology
With modern equipment and a specialized team, the service contributes to more effective, agile, and safe care for patients

As a reference in orthopedics and traumatology, the Galileu State Hospital (HPEG), in Greater Belém, uses radiology as a strategic tool in patient care. The service is used for diagnosing injuries, surgical planning, and postoperative follow-up, making it one of the fundamental pillars of the unit.
According to the hospital, which has cutting-edge technology and experienced professionals, the radiology department plays a decisive role in quick and accurate diagnosis, especially in cases of orthopedic trauma. The speed in performing exams such as X-rays, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging reduces waiting time and contributes to the effective recovery of patients.
According to radiologist Alexandre Onuma, who works at the Pará Government unit, "X-ray is the most requested exam. It is by far the most used, due to its speed and low radiation. It identifies fractures, dislocations, and bone changes quickly, allowing for the correct referral of cases."
In cases involving complex injuries, especially in soft tissues or regions such as the spine, other exams become prominent. "Computed tomography provides high-resolution images, useful in analyzing fractures, dislocations, and bone changes. Magnetic resonance imaging is crucial for investigating muscles, tendons, and ligaments," details the specialist.
The combination of exams is essential for a complete and safe evaluation, especially in cases of tumors, spinal injuries, or multiple fractures. "Each method has its indication, and the correct choice, based on clinical suspicion, is fundamental for the success of the diagnosis," emphasizes Alexandre.
Postoperative
At Hospital Galileu, managed by the Amazon Social and Environmental Health Institute (ISSAA) in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), radiology is essential for patient recovery. In the postoperative phase, it ensures that the treatment progresses safely and as expected.
According to radiologist Alexandre Onuma, through imaging exams, the team monitors bone healing, detects signs of complications such as infections, misalignment of implants, or failures in consolidation, and can intervene quickly. "This monitoring allows for adjustments in the therapeutic plan, based on concrete evidence, increasing the success of orthopedic surgeries," he emphasizes.
The specialist also highlights that quick access to exams and results reduces patient anxiety and brings confidence during recovery. "With this technical and technological support, Galileu ensures precise and safe treatment at all stages, from diagnosis to rehabilitation," he states.
