"Without a doubt, it is a space that allows for the democratization of sports, enabling everyone to practice. The entire community can access it for free," emphasized student Bruno Yan, 24, who debuted the tennis court at City Park in Belém this Saturday (28). He has been training in the modality for over two years and played for the first time in an area close to his home in the Sacramenta neighborhood.

In addition to the tennis court, City Park offers spaces for basketball, volleyball, society football, handball, skateboarding, cycling, walking, running, and outdoor gyms. This last space was highly praised by university student Luana Oliveira, 27.

"Here there are equipment that I don't see in other outdoor gyms, like this leg extension machine," she pointed out. Luana works out five times a week and participates in street races. "I ran from home, in the Marancagalha neighborhood, to the park. I came to check it out and I'm really enjoying it. Belém needed this equipment for the community," she emphasized.

A legacy of COP30, in Belém, City Park was officially opened yesterday (27) so that the population can enjoy this public facility before the Conference takes place in November.

The location will operate from Tuesday to Sunday from 8 AM to 10 PM. On Mondays, the park will operate from 6 PM to 10 PM. The Public Holiday Camp will take place from Tuesday to Friday, with activities for 10,000 children, teenagers, and seniors. Registration for the programming has closed.

The Vice Governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, gathered a group of women for a dance class. "It's very good to see a park that belongs to everyone. Where people can come, bring their families, and do a workout class like this. And that's what we want, a place for the community to come together, to take walks, do sports, leisure, culture, a space for everyone, a space where anyone can come," she highlighted.

The park's gym also hosted a geek meeting. "I think it's great to have a space here in this region of Belém where we can hold events," said Anderson Henrique, who participated in the meeting.

The children's playground and the one with water jets remained mostly full with kids playing on the equipment.

At night, the Central Boulevard of City Park became a meeting point for groups of friends and families. The public walked freely along the path, occupying the seats. Many had attentive looks to appreciate every detail of the park's landscaping. Pets also roamed freely with their owners.

In the amphitheater, gospel singer Cláudio Júnior performed. Throughout this month of July, cultural performances will be held at the venue.

About 50 military police officers are working in the park area to ensure the safety of visitors. The Government of Pará also maintains a team of paramedics in an ambulance that can respond in case of any incident involving a visitor or athlete.

The public will be able to enjoy City Park until July 31. Starting August 1, the area will be handed over to the UN for the setup of the Green and Blue Zone.
