Sefa seizes industrial equipment valued at R$ 444 thousand on the border with Maranhão
Refrigeration condensers were retained due to tax irregularities during an inspection in Dom Eliseu

Inspectors from the State Department of Finance (Sefa) seized three units of condensers for industrial refrigeration, valued at R$ 444 thousand, during a routine operation at the control post of Itinga, in Dom Eliseu, northeastern Pará, on the border with Maranhão. The seizure occurred on June 28.
According to Sefa, the cargo originated in Taubaté (SP) and was registered as destined for São José dos Campos (SP), but the true destination was a construction site located in Belém, the capital of Pará. The irregularity was confirmed during the verification of tax documents.
“Since the goods were intended for a final consumer who is not a taxpayer of the tax in Pará, and there was no payment of the ICMS differential rate (Difal), the charge was applied as provided by law,” explained Rafael Brasil, the coordinator of the Itinga tax unit.

In light of the infraction, a Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) was drawn up, amounting to R$ 92,088.89, referring to the tax due and the fine.
