The State Department of Public Health (Sespa) participated, this Friday (27), in the national mobilization promoted by the Ministry of Health for the launch of the Program "Now There Are Specialists." The action took place at the Beneficent Hospital Portuguesa of Pará, in Belém, with the presence of the State Secretary of Public Health, Ivete Gadelha Vaz, and the Deputy Secretary of Administrative Management of Sespa, Edney Pereira. The activity also included live interaction with the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, via videoconference.

The program aims to integrate states and municipalities to expand the offer of specialized care through SUS

The event connected representatives from 12 states in reference hospital units. The proposal of the Program is to integrate states and municipalities to expand the offer of specialized care through the Unified Health System (SUS), aiming to reduce waiting times for consultations, exams, and surgeries in priority areas.

Response - During the event, it was announced that the Beneficent Hospital Portuguesa will expand the population's access to consultations, exams, and surgeries, both in the public and private networks, through the Program. The unit was chosen to initiate actions in the State, with the presence of technical teams and representatives from the specialized care network.

During the broadcast, Secretary Ivete Vaz emphasized the importance of the initiative for the North Region. "We know the difficulties faced by patients who go through Primary Care and wait for referrals to specialists. With this new Program, we are confident that we will be able to provide a good response to our population, both in outpatient and hospital care," stated the head of Sespa.

Access Expansion - "Now There Are Specialists" provides for the accreditation of clinics, philanthropic and private hospitals for the offer of specialized care in the areas of oncology, gynecology, cardiology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, and otorhinolaryngology. The contracting of services will be carried out by states and municipalities or, complementarily, by AgSUS and the Conceição Hospital Group.

The strategy also includes the expansion of shifts, the holding of mutirões, and the use of specialized trailers for care in underserved regions. With these actions, the expectation is to increase the number of services provided in public health units across the country by up to 30%.

Technological Innovation - The Program provides for the expansion of telehealth services, with the opening of calls for the offer of telediagnosis, teleconsultation, and specialized teleconsulting. In addition, the training of 3,500 new specialist professionals in priority areas is planned, including 500 vacancies in the "More Specialist Doctors" program across the country.

With direct participation in the launch of the Program, Pará reaffirms its commitment to expanding access to specialized health care, promoting greater resolution and quality in the care of SUS users.
