The Government of Pará delivered, this Friday (27), the new headquarters of the 29th Independent Company of the Military Police (CIPM) in Óbidos, in the Lower Amazon. This is the first structure owned by the Corporation in the municipality, marking a historic advance in strengthening public security in the region.

The delivery ceremony was attended by Governor Helder Barbalho, Lieutenant Governor Hana Ghassan, the mayor of Óbidos, Jaime Silva, as well as representatives from the state and municipal Legislative, authorities from the security forces, and members of the local community.

During the ceremony, Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted the strategic importance of the new structure for the operation of the Military Police in the region.

“We are delivering the first barracks of the Military Police in Óbidos, which will significantly strengthen police presence, both in the municipality's headquarters and in Curuá. This investment reinforces our strategy to combat crime with effective presence in urban, rural areas, and also on the rivers, through the river base. It means more security, more tranquility, and more peace for the population,” said the governor, who on that occasion also received the title of citizen of Óbidos granted by the City Council.

Built on a 1,577 m² plot of land donated by the City Hall of Óbidos, the new unit has 350 m² of built area. The space includes four administrative offices, rooms for the commander and deputy commander, male and female dormitories with bathrooms, a pantry-kitchen, a dining area, and an auditorium with a capacity for 40 people. The total investment is R$ 2,111,163.51, funded by the state’s general budget.

With the delivery of its own headquarters, the 29th CIPM ceases to operate in a rented property and begins to function under more adequate structural conditions. Lieutenant Colonel Deyvid Samaroni, commander of the unit, celebrated the achievement.

“This is a historic milestone for Óbidos. For the first time, the Military Police has its own space in the municipality. This represents dignity for the personnel, better working conditions, and consequently, a more efficient service to the population. Now, residents have a reference point to seek police support,” emphasized the commander.

The initiative is part of the state plan for the expansion and modernization of security forces, directly benefiting more than 65,000 people in the municipalities of Óbidos and Curuá. The new PM headquarters reinforces the Government of Pará's commitment to enhancing public security and protecting the population of the Lower Amazon.
