Seju promotes activities across the state to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse
Actions take place in different regions of Pará, with discussions aimed primarily at young people and professionals working in the field

The State Secretariat of Justice (Seju) is carrying out various activities in commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, celebrated this Thursday, June 26. The actions took place throughout the week in different regions of the state, with discussions aimed primarily at young people and professionals working on the topic.
“We work on drug use prevention throughout Pará, talking directly with young people, parents, teachers, and support network professionals, as well as creating public policies for awareness and combating chemical dependency,” explains the Secretary of Justice, Evandro Garla.
Last Monday, the 23rd, Seju, through the Coordination of Prevention, Treatment, and Reduction of Drug Use (Cenpren), promoted an educational action with students from the Social Work course at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), in Belém. On Tuesday, the 24th, the Cenpren team spoke with socio-educational students from the Service Unit of the Socio-Educational Care Foundation of Pará (Fasepa), in Ananindeua, focusing on the risks of using electronic cigarettes.
“I only knew about regular cigarettes, I didn't know there was an electronic type or that it was so harmful to health. I also learned which agencies to contact for more information or help to stop drug use,” said one of the socio-educational students, 16 years old, assisted by Fasepa.
Also on the 24th, the Justice Center of Altamira, in the Xingu region, spoke with students from the state education network about the importance of preventing the use of chemical substances and the role of the public support network in prevention policies. On Wednesday, the 25th, Cenpren servers continued educational actions in schools in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, this time in the municipality of Marituba.

Drug policies - On the 26th, Seju, in partnership with the Municipal Drug Council of Santarém, in the Lower Amazon region, held a training event for professionals in the intersectoral drug policy network in the region, addressing topics such as participatory governance and racial equity. The Secretariat of Justice is the agency responsible for managing drug policies in Pará, including the formation of a care network composed of public agencies, civil society institutions, and professionals from various fields.
“In our city, there is still no municipal council for drug prevention, so this training was important for us to be guided on how to start planning and implementing this collegiate to address our demands,” evaluated Socorro Peres, a guardianship councilor from Belterra, a neighboring municipality to Santarém.
Seju continues the program on the 26th by carrying out more educational actions in state schools and Fasepa units in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, with a focus on young people and adolescents. On the 27th, training for the intersectoral network of Monte Alegre, in the Lower Amazon, is scheduled.
