Babysitter arrested in Outeiro for attempted homicide against 11-month-old baby
Medications and syringes were found and sent for forensic examination

The Civil Police arrested, on the morning of this Thursday (26), a woman investigated for attempted qualified homicide against an 11-month-old baby. The arrest occurred during "Operation Eli," launched by the Division of Adolescent Care (DATA), linked to the Directorate of Care for Vulnerable Groups (DAV), with support from the Civil Police Intelligence Center (NIP).
The arrest was made in the district of Outeiro, in Belém. "Since the report, the team conducted several investigative diligences and began monitoring the suspect, representing to the Justice for a preventive arrest warrant, as well as a request for a home search and seizure, both granted. During the monitoring and after the judicial decision was granted, it was found that the suspect had fled the residence where she lived, in the São Brás neighborhood. After intense investigative work, she was located hiding in Outeiro, where the arrest warrant issued against her was executed," explains delegate Theo Schüler, director of DATA Belém.

During the execution of the search warrant, carried out at the suspect's residence, medications and syringes were seized that will be submitted to technical examination.
The woman was taken to the DATA headquarters in Belém, where she provided testimony in a Qualification and Interrogation Record and remains at the disposal of Justice. The Child and Adolescent Protection Police Station (DPCA) will continue the investigations to clarify the dynamics of the events and identify any other victims.

Understand the case - The investigation began on the 19th of this month, after a report made by the victim's family, who noticed abnormal behavior in the child, showing intense lethargy and drowsiness. Images from the residence's monitoring system captured the moment when the babysitter introduced an object resembling a pill into the baby's throat, forcing its ingestion.
Based on the evidence collected, a police inquiry was initiated and a preventive arrest of the suspect was requested, as well as a home search and seizure, requests that were granted by the Belém Police Inquiry Court.
The arrest was based on the seriousness of the conduct, the risk of reoffending, and the possibility of the suspect fleeing.
"This is a case of extreme gravity, in which a child, who should be protected, was the victim of an attempted homicide. The images obtained were fundamental for us to act quickly and ensure the arrest of the suspect. We are committed to deepening the investigations, seeking to identify if there are other victims or circumstances related to this crime," emphasizes delegate Emanuel Amorim, director of DAV.
Operation Eli - The name of the operation refers to the biblical character Eli, who welcomed and protected the prophet Samuel, symbolizing care and responsibility for childhood. The choice of the name reinforces the institutional commitment of the Civil Police to protect children and adolescents, as well as representing a firm and humanized response to the seriousness of the crime being investigated.
