Mangal das Garças hosts team from the Catavento Museum and strengthens exchange of experiences on butterfly preservation
The morning was marked by the reunion between two institutions that share the same purpose: to educate, preserve, and inspire through nature

The Zoobotanical Park Mangal das Garças was the scene of enchantment and knowledge exchange on the morning of this Tuesday, June 24, with the special visit of a technical team from the Catavento Museum in São Paulo. The meeting focused on the butterfly house of Mangal, a space that, in addition to preserving species of the Amazon fauna, fascinates those who get to know it up close.
Animal caretaker Isabelle Norberto was moved when visiting the space for the first time.
“It’s like I arrived at Disney. I had never visited butterfly houses outside of São Paulo and I was enchanted. The place is huge, beautiful, with many species that we would also like to have there. Exchanging ideas with the team here was very enriching. Simple things, like the way to prepare nectar for the butterflies, make all the difference. I go home full of ideas.”
Biologist Maiara Bezerra, the technical manager for Catavento, also celebrated the visit.
“We came for a technical visit and to resume a partnership we had with Mangal a few years ago. Getting to know the laboratory, observing practices, talking with the team, all brought us new ideas that we intend to apply in São Paulo. We also saw species that we are interested in, in the future, bringing to the museum. This exchange is very rich.”
Biologist Basílio Guerreiro, responsible for Mangal, highlighted the importance of this integration between institutions. “Welcoming the Catavento team was a joy. It is always very productive when we can exchange experiences with professionals who also work with environmental education. Each conversation brings learnings, inspirations, and, above all, strengthens our conservation network. The most beautiful thing is to see that, even from different regions of Brazil, we have common goals.”

More than a technical activity, the morning was marked by the reunion between two institutions that share the same purpose: to educate, preserve, and inspire through nature.
The Zoobotanical Park Mangal das Garças is managed by the Social Organization Pará 2000, through a management contract with the State Department of Tourism and the State Government. The complex is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8 am to 6 pm.
