Cosanpa qualifies professionals in gender and diversity protocols in public service
Training was in partnership with the State Secretariat for Racial Equality and Human Rights

The strengthening of public policies aimed at humanizing service in the public sector, based on respect for gender and diversity, is the central theme of the training for professionals at the Pará Sanitation Company (Cosanpa). The most recent training took place this week and was in partnership with the State Secretariat for Racial Equality and Human Rights (Seirdh).
“People often understand that gender policy is something related to women. We are demystifying this through institutional mapping and the use of other instruments that can identify and equalize work experiences between men and women so that asymmetries do not deepen,” explains Natasha Vasconcelos, deputy coordinator of Institutional Strengthening, Gender, and Communication of Prodesan, developed by Cosanpa.
Among the topics covered are explanations regarding the LGBTQIA+ acronym and representations, gender identity, application and possibilities in each service, and the reception of society. In this stage of the training, Gabriela Borja, the coordinator of Sexual and Gender Diversity at the State Secretariat for Racial Equality and Human Rights, was one of the invited speakers.
For her, the presence of the debate on gender and sexuality literacy in state service strengthens public policies for the protection of this population. “Access to information, qualification, and understanding are fundamental in all spaces so that these professionals are equipped to assist in occurrences or reports of crimes,” details Gabriela.
For Danielle Nunes, manager of the Information Technology Unit at Cosanpa, the experience was an opportunity to build a work environment that respects diversity and combats all forms of prejudice. “It was a highly relevant experience, as this type of training invites us to rethink attitudes and review behaviors. I leave this meeting with an expanded awareness and the responsibility to be an agent of change in my service unit,” said Danielle.
LGBT Pride - The efforts to strengthen public policies aimed at the population will be expanded on June 27 and 28, at the David Mufarrej auditorium of the University of the Amazon (Unama), during the 5th State Conference on the Rights of LGBTQIA+ People.
Held by Seirdh in partnership with the Council of Sexual Diversity (CEDS), the event marks the month of mobilization for LGBT Pride, with discussions on advances, challenges, and proposals for concrete solutions for this population in the state context, based on the National Policy on the Rights of LGBTQIA+ People.
