The June atmosphere took over the Dr. Waldemar Penna Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas (HRBA) in Santarém, western Pará, changing the routine of patients, companions, and professionals, and contributing to moments of entertainment and interaction with family.

Long-term patient, Maria Vitória Ferreira Garcia, 1 year old, has been hospitalized since she was three months old at HRBA. This week, the multiprofessional team authorized the girl's exit from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a photo session with a June theme. Maria Vitória was accompanied by family members and the professional team.

For the girl's mother, Laiane Cristine Gomes Ferreira, "any opportunity we have to celebrate, whether it's Carnival, June festival, or Christmas, we try to take a family photo to keep as a memory. And whenever we want to do it, no matter how difficult it is, it always happens. And I thank the Hospital. It is very important for her to be closer to her brother, and for us to come here to keep this moment as a memory."

Hemodialysis June Festival - Another June program was the Hemodialysis Sector's June Festival, which offered games, music, dance, and information to users. "The June Festival has become a tradition. This is the third consecutive year we have held it. We promote the dynamics with the aim of relaxing the service and treatment for chronic kidney patients. It is an interaction action between collaborators, patients, and companions," explained the Sector coordinator, Kamila Lacerda.

Nilton Cavalcante Furtado, 67 years old, who has been undergoing hemodialysis sessions for six years at HRBA, approved the June festival atmosphere. "This game distracts people a lot. I can only thank our colleagues who do hemodialysis and the administration of the Sector. I did well, and I even won a gift playing the ring toss. It makes a big difference for all of us," said the patient.

Luan celebrating his 15th birthday with themed decoration

Birthday - With decoration inspired by the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean," patient Luan Gabriel Castro celebrated his 15th birthday at HRBA, where he has been hospitalized since 2011. The celebration took place in the school room of the Pediatric Clinic, gathering professionals who accompany Luan's treatment.

"We have our HRBA family, and the staff themselves encourage the celebration of his birthday a lot. Everyone helps. They already know his way, and they even help me to make it the way he likes. Luan was very emotional, and I was very proud. The humanization provided all the support, and everyone who knows and cares for him was present," said Luan's mother, Eliana Castro da Silva.

As a reference in medium and high complexity for about 1.4 million inhabitants of 29 municipalities in western Pará, the Regional Hospital of Baixo Amazonas promotes humanized actions to improve care and contribute to the mental and emotional health of users.

Differential - "Humanization actions are part of our commitment to closer, sensitive, and welcoming care. Celebrations such as patient birthdays, June festivals, and photo sessions with family are not just moments of relaxation; they are ways to restore dignity, hope, and emotional bonds during the hospitalization period. These initiatives strengthen the emotional well-being of patients and families, promoting a lighter and more humane environment, where each person is valued in their entirety. At HRBA, caring with technique is essential. But caring with the heart is what sets us apart," emphasized the unit's Humanization supervisor, Karine Campos.

"We value the well-being and mental and emotional health of our patients, which is why we work on actions that go beyond the treatment of diseases. We want to provide complete care. The month of June brings this theme of June festivals, and why not use this to improve our users' stay? We are working every day to value these people and develop the recovery process," emphasized the general director of HRBA, Matheus Coutinho.
