The State Secretariat for Environment, Climate and Sustainability of Pará (Semas) held a lecture in honor of "Green June" at the Usina da Paz in Benevides, a municipality in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. At the event, held on Wednesday (18), Semas technicians presented important issues regarding the Amazon and COP 30 (world conference on climate change) to a group of young people.

Lecture addressed climate issues at UsiPaz in Benevides

“Today's lecture aimed to discuss how the Amazon is very important for the planet. It regulates climate and biodiversity, and we need to work towards finding an alternative path so that the Amazon can take a step towards a development project with bioeconomy, social justice, and energy transition,” said Alberto Teixeira, a sociologist from the Environmental Education team at Semas.

Challenge - During the month of June, Semas professionals present important environmental actions to the public in celebration of "Environment Month." “This moment is fundamental. We leave the message for the youth, continuing municipal public policies. This is a long-term challenge, as the issue of climate change involves decades of work. Our participation today was very important to discuss and answer many questions. Now is the time to call for a major mobilization, which will be COP 30, and beyond COP,” added Alberto Teixeira.

The "Green June" action promotes mobilization and environmental education activities in honor of World Environment Day - June 5, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of nature preservation for a sustainable future.
