State revenue inspectors from the State Department of Finance (Sefa), stationed at the Coordination of Goods in Transit Control in Gurupi, in Cachoeira do Piriá, northeast Pará, on the border with Maranhão, seized 30 tons of wheat bran valued at R$ 36,640.00 on June 17.

According to the unit coordinator, Gustavo Bozola, the cargo was intercepted during a routine inspection. "The tarped bulk truck was approached, and we requested the invoice for the goods. The driver presented a document related to 120 bags of wheat bran, equivalent to 3,600 kg, a quantity that did not match the actual volume transported. Furthermore, the invoice indicated origin and destination in Belém, but the cargo was already at the border, heading to Maranhão," he explained.

After a physical inspection of the cargo and consultation with Sefa's systems, a second invoice was identified, referring to 880 bags of 30 kg of wheat bran. However, the issuer was registered irregularly with the State. In total, 1,000 bags were counted, totaling the 30 tons seized.

According to Sefa, the cargo was considered uncovered by tax documentation, constituting a breach of transit — a situation where the invoice indicates one destination, but the cargo is heading to another location. A Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) was issued in the amount of R$ 12,530.88, referring to tax and fine.

Industrial materials - On June 16, another team from Sefa, this time from the Itinga inspection unit in Dom Eliseu, also in northeastern Pará, retained a cargo of industrial materials consisting of three suction hoses and 11 geotextile "containers." The goods, originating from São Paulo and destined for Barcarena, were valued at R$ 393,907.00.

"The merchandise was covered by an invoice for shipment for use in service provision. However, due to the type of product and its function in engineering works, we understood that the material would be permanently incorporated into the work in Pará, not returning to the sender," clarified coordinator Rafael Brasil.

In this case, a TAD was issued in the amount of R$ 81,699.23, referring to the ICMS due to the State.

Soy - Also on June 16, during an inspection at the Coordination of Goods in Transit Control in Carajás, on the Transamazon Highway (Km 15), in São João do Araguaia, 64 tons of soybeans were seized, valued at R$ 84,396.00.

The seizure occurred at the Carajás Railway tax post on PA-150, during the approach to two vehicles transporting the goods from Santa Maria das Barreiras (PA) to Maranhão.

"After document analysis and consultations with Sefa's systems, we found that the taxpayer failed to collect the ICMS within the regulatory deadline, regarding the tax anticipation upon leaving the Pará territory. Although the invoice indicated an operation with a specific purpose of export, we verified that the taxpayer does not have a special regime for this type of transaction," explained coordinator Cicinato Oliveira.

Two TADs were issued regarding the operation, totaling R$ 14,316.87, between tax and fine.
