Integrated River Base 'Candiru' seizes goods valued at R$ 3 million
Among the materials were tires, a backhoe, equipment, among others

The integrated public security strategy of Pará, through the river bases, once again demonstrated effectiveness in combating the irregular transport of goods. On June 9, a joint operation by the Candiru River Base in Óbidos, with support from the Federal Revenue, Military Police, and the State Department of Finance (Sefa), resulted in the seizure of a vessel transporting goods without tax documentation. The estimated value of the seized cargo exceeds R$ 3 million.

The inspection targeted the vessel Água Branca, which had departed from Manaus (AM) heading to Itaituba, in southeastern Pará. During the approach, agents found that the products were not accompanied by invoices, characterizing tax evasion and customs irregularity. The material was retained by the Federal Revenue and by Sefa, responsible for drafting the infraction notices.
Additionally, the vessel was overweight, which posed a risk to navigation safety. For this reason, the Port Authority of the Brazilian Navy was notified and issued several infractions against the vessel, including operation by an unqualified person, which culminated in the seizure of the vessel.

Among the seized materials were:
- 604 tires;
- 1 quadricycle;
- 150 inner tubes;
- 3 electric scooters;
- 9 Bosch electric tools;
- 461 bearings;
- 20 travel bags;
- 1 backhoe;
- 533 m² of metal sheets;
- 3 aluminum vessels;
- 11 motorcycles;
- 1 new motor vehicle

17 Terms of Seizure and Deposit were issued, totaling R$ 352,846.11 in taxes and fines by Sefa. From the Port Authority, the operation resulted in nine notifications for violations of maritime legislation.

The director of the Public Security River Group, Colonel José Vilhena, emphasized the importance of integrated action to strengthen the fight against smuggling and tax evasion. “This action demonstrates the effectiveness of our customs inspection on the rivers of Pará, a crucial effort to combat smuggling and ensure the economic security of our state. I thank everyone involved for their dedication and professionalism,” he stated.
