Hemopa held the 8th Walk for Life at Utinga Park this Sunday to encourage blood donors

The Pará Hemotherapy and Hematology Center Foundation (Hemopa) held the 8th edition of the Walk for Life at Utinga State Park in Belém on the morning of this Sunday (15). The event aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation and raise awareness among the population about the importance of this act of solidarity, especially during Red June, a month dedicated to the cause.

With a light route and open participation to the public, the event brought together Foundation employees, regular donors, volunteers, and park visitors. The activity also marked World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14, and sought to integrate health, well-being, and solidarity.

The program included musical warm-up, guidance on how to become a donor, and a raffle of prizes among participants. The campaign is part of Hemopa's strategies to increase the number of registrations and ensure blood stocks throughout the state.

Paulo Bezerra, president of the Hemopa Foundation: the walk at Utinga symbolizes the strength of solidarity to save lives

According to the president of the Hemopa Foundation, Paulo Bezerra, the walk reinforces the culture of donation in Pará. “It is a symbolic moment that unites health, citizenship, and solidarity. The presence of donors is essential to maintain our regular stocks and save lives every day,” he emphasized.

Self-care - Social worker Juciara Farias emphasized that the action also associates the act of donating with health promotion. “It is a way to encourage self-care and show that donating blood can be part of people's routine. The walk brings lightness and warmth to this very important gesture,” she stated.

Keila Macedo brought a group of elderly people to participate in Hemopa's walk, a moment to reinforce well-being and self-esteem

Participant of the walk, administrator Keila Macedo brought a group of elderly people from the social project “Cuidar,” of which she is a part. “It is always special to participate. Our group serves elderly people, and being able to include them in moments like this reinforces self-esteem and well-being. Donating blood is an act of love, and I encourage this whenever I can,” she reported.
