The integrated work of the security forces operating at the Integrated River Base "Candiru" in Óbidos resulted, on Wednesday (11), in another arrest for drug trafficking and the seizure of 6 kilograms of drugs in the rivers of Pará. The illicit material was found in a delivery agency in Santarém, in the Lower Amazon region.

The inspection actions were carried out by the Public Security River Group (GFLU), in partnership with military police and civil police units, during operations in the Óbidos strait, one of the main routes for transporting goods and passengers in the region.

Around noon, during an approach to the vessel "Golfinho do Mar II", coming from Manaus (AM), the police located a passenger with an open arrest warrant issued by the 2nd Court of Drug Offenses in Porto Velho (RO). During a personal search, the suspect presented a false identity document. He was on his way to Santarém, where he would receive a load of drugs through a delivery agency.

The Santarém Civil Police team was called and located six packages of a substance similar to skunk, a more potent variety of marijuana. The suspect was taken to the police station for legal procedures.

The acting Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Colonel PM Sérgio Neves, highlighted the continuous work of the security forces in combating drug trafficking in the region's rivers.

“This result demonstrates the commitment and effectiveness of our security forces in combating organized crime and protecting our society. Constant inspection and integrated work yield significant results. I thank everyone involved, from field teams to intelligence, for their professionalism and dedication. We will continue to intensify actions to ensure the safety and well-being of the population,” said the secretary.
