State presents the 'Pará without Fire' program at the Pará Forum on climate
The zoning of priority areas for fire prevention and combat, the action of forest brigades, and the acquisition of equipment are among the initiatives

Strategic for the prevention and combat of forest fires in the State, the state program 'Pará without Fire', launched last Thursday (5), on World Environment Day, was presented this Wednesday (11), during the Pará Forum on Climate Change and Adaptation (FPMAC), which takes place at the Environmental Training and Formation Center of the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas), in the Marco neighborhood, in Belém.
The head of Semas, Raul Protázio Romão, emphasizes that the creation of the new program comes from the State's need to change its approach to tackling forest fires. Based on scenario monitoring, Semas identified that forests are becoming increasingly flammable and created new action strategies.
"We will carry out a priority zoning and, from that, define the regions where we will concentrate our actions. We will also form a structure of firefighters to combat fires on-site, more quickly and efficiently, in addition to ensuring all necessary equipment to combat deforestation, in partnership with the private sector and a network of state agencies," explains the secretary.

Participating in the Forum, forest engineer Bruno Ferreira - CEO of Ecosmart Group, a startup created with the support of the State Secretariat for Science, Technology, Higher Education, Professional and Technological Education of Pará (Sectet), states that the event is a convergence of solutions, where society, in general, can see, in fact, the state actions implemented to advance with environmental challenges.
"Technically, I consider that 'Pará without Fire' has excellent and extremely interesting viability. We can see the strong engagement of the State Government in this solution, which has historically persisted, with the addition of technologies and innovations," emphasizes the participant.
The head of Semas points out that the program will create an Integrated Multi-Agency Center for Combating Forest Fires, which brings together actions from the secretariat integrated with the Military Fire Brigade of the State of Pará, the State Secretariat for Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap), the State Secretariat for Indigenous Peoples of Pará (Sepi), and the Institute for Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio), to operate in a single command center.
Forum – Semas is promoting until this Wednesday (11), the 7th Edition of the Pará Forum on Climate Change and Adaptation, with discussions on climate and environmental policies in the State. With free participation, more than 200 people attended the event, which started on Tuesday (10).

Participant Kassia Lopes, director of the Environmental Management Department of the São Domingos do Capim Environment Secretariat, states that the event participants become knowledge multipliers. "We are active voices in our municipalities and having access to this information is essential to improve our work more and more. We have been understanding data, scenarios, and thinking about actions that we will implement in our region for two days," she concludes.
Among the highlights of the event is the participation of the National Secretary for Climate Change of the Ministry of the Environment (MMA), Aloísio Melo, who will present Brazil's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for COP30; in addition to the participation of Brenda Maradei, from the COP30 Committee of Pará, who updates the audience on the progress of the organization of the Conference in Belém.
Bioeconomy was guaranteed a space in the program, with the participation of Camille Bemerguy, deputy secretary of Bioeconomy at Semas, presenting the Monitoring Platform of the State Bioeconomy Plan and the Bioeconomy and Innovation Park of the Amazon, initiatives to strengthen a sustainable and participatory economy in the region.
