São José Liberto has the II Edition of the Course for the Production of Biojewels with Upcycling Technique
Method transforms materials that would normally be discarded into exclusive biojewels with an extended durability period

The São José Liberto Space will host, on the 21st of this month, a Saturday, the second edition of the biojewels course, which uses the Upcycling technique — an English term that means "reuse". This time, the focus will be on creating pieces in cold ceramic with textile waste. The method consists of transforming materials that would normally be discarded, giving them a new life as exclusive biojewels and extending their utility.
The course will take place in the auditorium of the São José Liberto Space, at Praça Amazonas, Jurunas Neighborhood. Registrations are open and can be made by phone: (91) 9 8735-8837. Anyone can participate, with no prior experience required.
The initiative aims to strengthen this practice among local artisans, boosting the circular creative economy and reducing the environmental impact of improper material disposal.

With the support of the Secretariat of Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme), the workshop will feature the expertise of artisan Antônia Lima, specialized in Upcycling. She will conduct the activities and share her knowledge with the participants.
In the program content, participants will receive instructions on the correct application of cold ceramic craft techniques combined with textile reuse, merging techniques and creativity to create original and sustainable biojewels.
According to Antônia Lima, cold ceramic is a lightweight and easy-to-mold material that dries in the air and does not require an oven. Ideal for beginners, it allows for the creation of delicate, durable pieces with an artisanal finish.
Textile waste consists of leftover fabrics such as chita, cotton, denim, and knit that would normally go to waste. In the course, participants will learn to creatively integrate them into the jewelry as texture, base, details, or even frames for the pieces.
“You transform simple and accessible materials into unique jewelry, with artistic and sustainable value. Besides being a form of expression, it is also a real opportunity to generate income and build a purpose-driven business. No experience is needed, just a willingness to learn, create, and transform,” added Antônia Lima.
