The açaí will be the protagonist for the third time of the festival that will mark the arrival of the harvest

The free distribution of 300 liters of açaí and 300 kilograms of fried fish will mark the preliminary opening of the third edition of the Açaí Pará Festival, held by the State Government, through the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap). The traditional “avuado” will take place at the Açaí Port, in the Jurunas neighborhood, from 5 AM to 8 AM, next Thursday (12). On the 13th and 14th, the program will be held at the Hangar Convention and Fair Center of the Amazon, with the solemn opening scheduled for 6 PM. Public access for visitation will be released from 2 PM.

The organization of the program is by the Directorate of Fairs and Markets of Sedap through the Coordination of Good Açaí Practices. More than 500 artisanal beaters will participate in the festival, which will bring together producers from different integration regions of Pará. According to the director of Fairs and Markets of the secretary, Manoel Rendeiro, the program will mark the arrival of the açaí harvest.

“Açaí is currently produced in almost all municipalities of Pará; we already have açaí in Marabá and Parauapebas, for example, where there was no significant production before; thus, the increase in the number of artisanal beaters doubles and therefore we have to provide training for these workers. At our festival, we will offer training, as we did in the last edition,” announced the director.

In addition to producers from different integration regions, representatives of equipment used to beat açaí will be part of the program

The training work – which will take place in the central area of the Hangar – will be carried out by the Sanitary Surveillance of the Municipality of Belém and the State Secretary of Public Health (Sespa), in partnership with Sedap. The director of Fairs and Markets believes that this year the number of benefited beaters will be greater than in previous years.

“I think we will train more than 500 artisanal açaí beaters at once; the State Government, concerned with good handling practices, with hygiene in handling the product, will distribute PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to the beaters and we will also deliver certificates to the participants; our governor has instructed us that the State should be present at açaí points and that is why we give all the attention to ensure a safe açaí for our consumers,” he emphasized.

There will also be an exhibition to the public of innovative technology developed by private companies that make the collection of açaí in hard-to-reach places more practical and productive.

The açaí beaten into juice receives all the attention from the State Government to ensure the proper handling of the product

Cultural attractions- In addition to courses, sales of açaí products and derivatives, exhibition of bio-jewels, participation of state agencies and açaí producers who will offer tastings to the public, the Açaí Pará Festival will feature local artists.

On Friday (13), starting at 8 PM, the cultural presentation will be by the “Vingadores do Brega”, who have been present since the first edition of the festival. On Saturday, the public's entertainment will be the responsibility of the “king of Carimbó”, Pinduca, who will close the festival.

Service- The Açaí Pará Festival will take place on the next day 12, with the traditional “avuado”, from 5 AM to 8 AM, at the Açaí Port, located in the Jurunas neighborhood, and on the 13th and 14th at the Hangar Convention and Fair Center, in the Marco neighborhood, starting at 2 PM.
