The Air Group of Public Safety (Graesp), linked to the Secretary of Public Safety and Social Defense of Pará (Segup), completed on this Monday (9) the Periodic Operational Training Program, aimed at security agents, pilots, and aerostatic operators, as well as members of the Coordination of Operations and Special Resources (CORE) of the Civil Police. A total of 40 integrated agents participated in the training with the goal of improving and perfecting practices related to rescue actions and aerial policing carried out by the Group.

The acting Secretary of Public Safety of Pará, Colonel PM Sérgio Neves, emphasizes the importance of training for public agents. “It is of utmost importance to carry out this course, which is part of the training calendar for our agents, especially for those who operate in air missions aboard aircraft.”

“This practice allows them to further enhance their actions, thus increasingly effectively meeting the strategic security actions, as well as the service provided to the society of Pará,” said the secretary.

Tactical Training

The course fulfills the determination of Brazilian aviation legislation, which deals with civil aviation for public safety, and provides for periodic training by public air units every two years. The intention is to maintain higher operational levels, especially regarding aerial actions carried out by public safety administration.

The instructions included subjects such as vertical operations in helicopters, water rescue, external cargo transport, firefighting using the “Bambi Bucket” equipment, onboard shooting from a rotary-wing platform, airborne operations, rappelling, among other modalities related to safety and aerotactical missions. The activities began on May 29 and concluded on this Monday (9).

The training was conducted by the Teaching and Instruction management of Graesp, coordinated by Lieutenant of the Military Police, Douglas Albarado. He highlights the operational nature of the course that qualified 40 security agents.

“The periodic operational training program, in accordance with the PEP (Aircraft Production Incentive Program) aviation legislation, proposes requalification by the operators every two years, with participation from 40 servers, including four from the Coordination of Operations and Special Resources of the Civil Police. The training was divided into 15 subjects, such as water rescue and firefighting,” said the Graesp Teaching Coordinator.

In addition to aerostatic operators, pilots also underwent training in offensive and evasive combat maneuvers using helicopters. The course took place at the Air Group's facilities, as well as at Outeiro beach and the Shooting Club of Belém.

“The main objective of Graesp is to maintain excellence in the service offered to society, always keeping our agents trained and complying with the norms and guidelines established by Brazilian aviation authorities, thus fulfilling our air security mission, further strengthening the security actions planned by the state,” concluded the director of the Air Group of Security, Colonel PM Armando Gonçalves.
