Eight people are arrested in the Igarapé-Miri region during Operation 'Esparavel'
The Security System launched the 2nd edition of the operation this Friday, aiming to reinforce policing, combat, and dismantle criminal groups
The Public Security and Social Defense Secretariat of Pará (Segup) launched on the morning of this Friday, 06, the 2nd edition of Operation "Esparavel", integrated with the state's security forces. The operation was developed to ensure greater police reinforcement, combat, and dismantle criminal groups in the city of Igarapé-Miri, in the northeastern region of the state. In the first hours of the operation, security teams arrested 08 people, three in compliance with court orders and 5 in the act for drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms.
The actions also aim to maintain the reduction of crime in the municipality, which has been without records of Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes (CVLI) for over 70 days, in addition to combating theft and robbery in rural and riverside areas.

The Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense of the State, Ualame Machado, highlights the security actions carried out and the importance of concentrating efforts in the municipality considered the largest producer and exporter of açaí in the world.
“We know the strategic importance of the municipality of Igarapé-Miri, which is the largest producer of açaí in our state, and for this reason, we are proceeding with the second phase of Operation 'Esparavel'. We conducted the first phase last year, which actually affects not only the municipality but the entire Lower Tocantins region. Given that it is a region with many rivers, many islands, and with a network of roads and highways, we seek to act by combating drug trafficking, criminal organizations, and legal possession of firearms. Thus, from the early hours of the morning, our teams work in an integrated manner, such as the Civil Police, which entered with the investigative part, executing search and seizure warrants, and we will continue with the Military Police and other security agencies operating in the city,” emphasized Secretary Ualame Machado.
The head of Segup also highlights the fact that the region is among the municipalities that have not recorded CVLI for over 70 days and the importance of maintaining order and police presence in the region.
“We emphasize that the region has been without CVLI for over 70 days, which are violent and intentional lethal crimes. We are continuously working to respond to some theft and robbery crimes - and even explosions - that occurred recently, showing that the state is increasingly present and the population, which is our main partner, can collaborate with us through our reporting channels, 181 and also through the WhatsApp channel of Iara, our quick and anonymous virtual assistant,” he pointed out.

Productivity - After the start of actions in the early hours of this Friday (06), 3 compliance with preventive arrest warrants against three men have already been recorded, two in the city of Igarapé-Miri and one in Ananindeua, both linked to criminal groups, and the last one is also responding for the death of a military police officer. There were also 5 arrests in the act, 3 in the municipality's headquarters, one in the rural area, and the other in the riverside locality of Igarapé-Miri. In addition to the arrests, during the actions, one of the targets died in a confrontation with security teams.
Four firearms, 09 cell phones, and a quantity of drugs including marijuana and cocaine were also seized.
Security actions - More than 80 integrated security agents continue with ostensive and preventive actions in the municipality and surrounding areas. Among the actions, inspections are also being carried out at checkpoints on access roads and streets of the municipality, in order to curb illicit activities with the ostensive presence of teams on the streets and at the Civil Police Station in the Lower Tocantins region.
There are also fluvial actions being carried out on the rivers and channels of the region, reinforcing patrolling with the use of boats, and promoting the approach of riverside communities with community policing, encouraging and informing about the public security reporting channels so that they can contribute to combating criminal actions in the locality.
Integration - The operation involves the Civil and Military Police, the State Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (Seap), the State Traffic Department (Detran), in addition to the Deputy Secretariat of Intelligence and Criminal Analysis (Siac), the Fluvial Group (Gflu), and the Air Security Group (Graesp), linked to Segup.
