Deadline to register as a COP30 volunteer extended to June 10
Participants will receive international certification from the UN at the end of the Conference

Those interested in volunteering at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which will be held in Belém, have more time to participate in the selection process. Registration for the COP30 Volunteer Program has been extended until June 10. The initiative is supported by public and private universities, as well as language schools, which are encouraging their students to participate in the event.
On Tuesday (3), the Vice Governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, who also chairs the State Committee of COP30, met with representatives from 13 educational institutions to present the program. During the meeting, she emphasized that volunteers will receive international certification from the UN at the end of the conference, a recognition that adds value to the participants' resumes.
This benefit was highlighted by Professor Juliana Garcez from Unifamaz, who noted the engagement of the students.
"Within the universities, in the English courses, we have a very specific audience prepared to welcome all the people who will participate in COP30,” she stated. "The student will have a unique experience in their life. COP30 has a specific training component, and there will be the possibility of international interaction at a professional event of global importance. By participating as a volunteer, the student will be adding values that go beyond professional life," considered Juliana, who is also the coordinator of the Nursing course.
The program coordinator, Andrey Rabelo, reinforced that the extension of registrations broadens the reach of the joint action between the Government of Pará and educational institutions.
"The student who participates as a COP30 volunteer will have the opportunity to do an exchange within the city itself. It is a gain for everyone, both for the State and for the institutions," he highlighted.
Training, benefits, and profile of volunteers
The holding of COP30 in Belém, scheduled for November, represents a unique opportunity for young people to expand their professional networks, enrich their resumes, and experience an international experience without leaving the city. Participants in the program will also be able to use the training course as a complementary activity at their educational institutions.
Registrations are made exclusively through the website. During the event, volunteers will be entitled to transportation, meals, official uniform, and life insurance.
Coordinated through a partnership between the Government of Pará and the Federal Government, the COP30 Volunteer Program offers 4,000 spots, with 20% allocated to indigenous and quilombola people and 5% to people with disabilities. The opportunities are aimed at individuals with completed high school, higher education, or in progress, over 18 years old, and residing in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. Proficiency in English at an intermediate level is required.
To register, candidates must present the following documents: recent proof of residence (water, electricity, or internet bill); voter registration; negative criminal record certificate (state or federal); and a resume (free format or via Lattes platform).
Vice Governor Hana Ghassan emphasized the importance of volunteering in the success of COP30.
"Volunteering plays a prominent role in the realization of the event. They receive uniforms, credentials, and perform various functions. Everyone who registers will go through a selection process and will be included in a Talent Bank. There will also be a training course divided into six modules with a total of 120 hours. This course covers topics related to climate change, tourism, sustainability, and intercultural communication," she explained.
