II Segup Race Celebrates 66 Years of the Institution with Sports and Leisure in Belém
More than 800 participants completed a 7-kilometer race
About 800 employees from the State Department of Public Security (Segup) and the external community, in general, took advantage of this Sunday (1st) to practice physical exercise during the second edition of the Segup Race. The sporting event marks the programming in honor of the 66th anniversary of the Department, to be celebrated on June 15.
The race started at 6 a.m. on Chaco Street, in the Marco neighborhood, where the Segup headquarters is located. The 7-kilometer route involved Duque de Caxias, Brigadeiro Protássio, Júlio César, Almirante Barroso, Doutor Freitas, Rômulo Maiorana avenues, finishing on Chaco Street with awards for the general community and members of the department.
Segup emphasizes that the initiative is also a way to encourage employees to take care of their health with a better quality of life by practicing physical exercises. The events turn into a great gathering among colleagues and are also a way to recognize those who daily serve society.
For the head of the department, Ualame Machado, the event was an important opportunity to bring together employees and street running enthusiasts, promoting quality of life and also celebrating the important date.
“The goal of the event was primarily to bring physical and mental health to public security employees, but also to the population in general. And at the same time, to strengthen this relationship with the community,” highlighted the secretary of Segup.
Ualame Machado added: "It is important for public security to always be close to society, as it is our main partner. And besides that, the event is also to celebrate the 66th anniversary of Segup, which is now in June and also marks the beginning of celebrations. Furthermore, it also marks the change of Segup's headquarters. And the race started and ended here at this location, precisely so that the population now knows the new address of the public security department of Pará.”
For employee Felipe Formigosa, from the State Public Security Fund sector, the event served to further integrate the employees. “This event has a very broad importance for us, but in a few words, defining, it is bringing more health, more camaraderie among the employees, the integration among the environment itself is very important. As an athlete in canoeing as well, I am participating in the race for the first time, I feel even energized by everything I am seeing here, how the race itself is, this is very good. As I said, the integration of the employees is excellent, promoting health, promoting camaraderie among everyone, and that is very good!” said Felipe.
In addition to those who work directly at the Segup headquarters, employees from the Disque Denúncia, Fluvial Group (GFlu), Undersecretariat of Intelligence and Criminal Analysis (Siac), Air Group (Graesp), Public Security Council (Consep), and other departments participated.
Awards - The trophies were awarded to the top three finishers in both categories, male and female. The classification of the athletes was determined by time/order of arrival (gross time). In addition to these awards, there were also participation medals for all runners who crossed the finish line, complying with the regulations.
Adriana Duarte, who is a public servant and Military Firefighter, secured first place in the employee category and celebrated Segup's initiative. “First of all, gratitude to God for being here. I thank Segup, the event organization, which was a 10 out of 10 in everything. And I hope this program continues because it is very important to combine public security with society, this great involvement, engagement in restoring the search for quality of life and well-being in society.”
Each participant was entitled to a kit upon registration that included a number for use on the chest, mandatory and non-transferable; promotional t-shirt; visor; water; fruits; and a participation medal.
Integration - Created by law no. 1,693 of June 15, 1959, the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense of Pará (Segup) was born as the central body of the State Public Security and Social Defense System, seeking a more efficient and dynamic management. Segup integrates various security forces, such as the Military Police, Civil Police, Military Fire Brigade, and other agencies related to security and social defense.
