Sefa inspectors seize 24 cubic meters of irregular wood on the border of Pará with Maranhão
The load had an invoice and forest guide with a different species than that transported; the seizure occurred in Cachoeira do Piriá and resulted in a fine of nearly R$ 7,000

State revenue inspectors from the Coordination of Control of Goods in Transit of the State Department of Finance (Sefa), located in the municipality of Cachoeira do Piriá, northeast of Pará, on the border with Maranhão, seized, last Thursday (30), 24 cubic meters of wood due to irregularities in the documentation.
According to the coordinator of the tax unit, Gustavo Bozola, the seizure occurred during a routine inspection at the Sefa post in Gurupi. A truck presented an invoice and forest guide declaring the transport of 24 cubic meters of sawn wood, of the species louro, originating from Santa Bárbara do Pará (PA) and destined for João Pessoa (PB).

"The inspection decided to carry out a verification and physical inspection of the load, and found sawn wood in boards, beams, joists, battens, and slats. The cubing was done, which matched the quantity stated on the invoice. However, after consulting the system, it was found that the wood being transported was of the species mandioqueira, which was not listed in the documentation presented," explained Bozola.
Given the irregularity, the invoice was disregarded, and a Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) was drawn up in the total amount of R$ 6,971.26, corresponding to tax and fine.
The load, valued at R$ 20,383.78, was sent to the Municipal Secretary of the Environment of Cachoeira do Piriá, which will be responsible for the administrative and environmental procedures related to the seized wood.
