Focusing on improving school infrastructure and valuing public education, the Government of Pará delivered, this Thursday (29), the 171st fully renovated and expanded school since 2019. The benefited unit was the Brigadeiro Haroldo Coimbra Veloso State High School, in Jacareacanga, in the southwestern region of Pará, and will serve more than 400 students with modern, air-conditioned, and accessible environments.

The work was carried out by the State Department of Education (Seduc), with an investment of over R$ 5.8 million. Among the constructed and restructured spaces are 12 classrooms with air conditioning, a Specialized Educational Service (AEE) room, library, multidisciplinary laboratory, computer room, auditorium, covered sports court with changing rooms, accessible bathrooms, cafeteria, and kitchen.

"More comfort and more future for students," says Helder Barbalho

During the school delivery, Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted the impact of the new structure on the routine and performance of students.

"Now we have a dignified school, of quality, with comfort for the students, who will also have a new sports court. With a new school, students will have greater motivation for their studies, to have a better future," he stated.

Secretary highlights Pará's leap in the education ranking

The Secretary of Education, Rossieli Soares, reinforced that the advances are the result of joint work and commitment to results. He recalled that Pará moved from 26th to 6th place in the national Ideb ranking.

"This result is due to the hard work of the teams, the directors, the teachers. Pará can indeed be a model of education for Brazil," he declared.

Students celebrate the new school structure

Student Giovanna Torres, 17 years old, from the 3rd year of high school, highlighted the welcoming nature of the new structure. "Even being from the countryside, the government is meeting our needs. This motivates students and encourages better performance. Now it is our responsibility to take care of the space we received.”

Historic investments enhance education in Pará

The delivery of the school in Jacareacanga is part of a set of actions by the State Government to strengthen public education. Since 2019, the administration has delivered:

  • 171 renovated or newly built schools;
  • 8 daycare centers through the Daycare Centers Across Pará program;
  • 3 Centers for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb).

In addition, Pará currently pays the highest average salary in Brazil for teachers, amounting to R$ 11,447.48, and offers the second highest starting salary in the country: R$ 8,289.87, plus R$ 1,500 in food vouchers, according to the Teaching Profession Movement.

School that Transforms and Prodep: autonomy and recognition

Among the highlights of the educational policy are two strategic programs:

  • Prodep (Money in the Pará School Program): will transfer R$ 100 million in 2025 to 700 schools in the state network, with autonomy for the school community to decide how to apply the resources;
  • School that Transforms: the largest performance bonus program in the country. In 2025, R$ 313 million will be allocated to recognize servers and schools that achieve goals in Ideb. Units can receive up to 3.5 salaries as a reward.
