Pará records a 19% decrease in deforestation alerts in forest areas
The reduction results from the state government's investments in satellite monitoring and the integrated action of regulatory agencies

Pará recorded a 19% reduction in deforestation alerts in the first 25 days of May 2025, according to data from the Deter system of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). The state went from 139.58 km² of alerts in the same period in 2024 to 112.68 km² in 2025 — a difference of almost 27 km².
The observed decline reflects the advances of the environmental policy of the Government of Pará, with continuous investments in satellite monitoring, integrated action with regulatory agencies, and direct incentives for sustainable productive practices. The performance positions Pará as a reference in combating deforestation and reinforces its leadership in preserving the Amazon.
“The recorded reduction is a reflection of the state's commitment to forest preservation, with actions not only of command and control but also with a profound process of encouraging the transformation of land use and natural resources in a sustainable manner. It is an objective sign of the ongoing transformation,” notes the governor.

In addition to the significant reduction in absolute numbers, Pará also showed a significant decrease in its relative share of the total alerts in the Legal Amazon during the analyzed period: from 31% in 2024 to 17% in 2025.
The partial result for the month of May reinforces Pará's commitment to sustainable development and comes at an emblematic moment, just a few months before the COP30 in Belém.
The state presents itself to Brazil and the world with concrete and consistent deliveries in the fight against deforestation, combining environmental preservation and conservation with sustainable development.
