The State Tourism Secretariat (Setur), in partnership with the Booking.com platform, held last Tuesday (27), at the Noble Hall of the Commercial Association of Pará (ACP), another edition of the free workshop aimed at residents interested in offering properties for short-term rental during the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30), which will be held in Belém in November 2025.

The training gathered 200 registrants and is part of the Pará Government's strategy to expand the offer of alternative accommodations and foster income-generating opportunities for the local population. During the event, Booking.com specialists presented how the platform works, with practical guidance on property registration, ad optimization, payment methods, and support channels.

Qualification and legacy

The State Secretary of Tourism, Eduardo Costa, highlighted that this was the fifth edition of the workshop promoted with Booking.com, reinforcing the government's commitment to qualifying the population to take advantage of the opportunities presented by COP 30.

“I believe that COP 30 is an accelerator for a new cycle of prosperity, just as we experienced at the height of the Rubber Cycle. Belém gains visibility, improvements in infrastructure, and, above all, a legacy for the people with actions like Capacita COP 30, which has already qualified more than 22,000 people,” he stated.

He also emphasized the importance of preparing hosts for the new scenario. “Many people have questions about how it works, how to list a property on the platform, and what is necessary to be a good host. The people of Pará have this natural vocation for hospitality; just look at how we welcome millions of people during the Círio de Nazaré,” added the head of Setur.

Tourism as a development engine

Representing the Commercial Association of Pará, superintendent Lúcio Cavalcante emphasized the impact of tourism on the local economy. “This is a moment of mobilization for strategic sectors like accommodation, generating jobs and income, and a legacy that will last beyond COP,” he pointed out.

The legal manager of Booking.com for Latin America, Wagner Osti, detailed the differentiators for attracting guests. “Good photos, good prices, and a committed host are elements that make a difference. It may seem complicated at first, but there is a simple step-by-step guide for those who want to get started,” he explained.

Larissa Cardoso, account manager at Booking.com, reinforced the platform's potential. “Two-thirds of our guests choose short-term rentals. The platform is intuitive, available in 43 languages, has 24-hour support, and there are no annual fees or membership charges,” she stated. She also demonstrated live how to register a property, including photos, descriptions, location, and amenities.

Residents see opportunity

Residents like Cristiana Matos and Ézio Gama participated in the meeting in search of opportunities. “I have an apartment in Tapanã, in a condominium with a pool. I intend to temporarily leave it and rent it out during this period. I was waiting for this workshop to better understand how it works,” Cristiana said.

“I have a two-bedroom property in Conjunto Maguari and I am thinking of renovating another one close to the COP location. This is the first time I am considering renting it out for a short term, and I came to learn how it works,” said Ézio.

Expansion of supply

According to data from Booking.com, there was a 712% increase in the supply of beds in properties for short-term rental from October 2024 to April 2025. Currently, the platform lists 2,453 properties registered in Belém and the Metropolitan Region, with 1,932 in the capital alone.
