COP30: State participates in congress on Climate Justice and Sustainability
Promoted by the State Public Ministry, the event brought together mayors and representatives from companies and civil society

On this Monday (26), the Vice Governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, participated in the 1st Congress on Climate Justice and Sustainability: Preparatory Dialogues for COP 30, promoted by the Public Ministry of the State of Pará (MPPA).
The meeting aims to discuss the central themes of the United Nations Climate Conference (COP 30), focusing on the importance of the Amazon and Brazil's watersheds in the balance of the global climate and the impacts of climate change, among other themes. The Vice Governor highlighted the state administration's preparation to host the event.

“The State Government has been preparing for two years to host what will be the largest global event on the environment on the planet. We are very happy to host this great event, to participate in this first congress that talks about sustainability, and we can talk a little about the actions of the State Government, not only for COP but the actions of the State Government in the area of preservation and production in the environment, since from the beginning of our administration, this has been a priority, a pillar of our administration,” said Hana Ghassan.

During the presentation, the Vice Governor spoke about the significance of COP 30 for the State and the positive impacts for the population. In addition to the legacy of infrastructure, COP30 influences job generation, training, and professional qualification, with the Capacita COP30 program. The State's actions for COP30 have an impact before, during, and after the conference.

Open to the public, the event brought together entrepreneurs, municipal managers, and students, such as law student Lucas Viana, who saw an opportunity to gain more knowledge on the subject.

"I saw, in this event, a great opportunity for both personal and professional development, and that was one of the main reasons I registered here today. I am sure it will contribute a lot to me, as we will discuss sustainability, given that COP30 will be held here in Belém. The more we talk about it, the better the development, not only for me but for society."

Throughout the day, the meeting will discuss, dialogue, promote reflections, and build joint paths in the face of today's environmental challenges.

The Attorney General of Justice (PGJ) of MPPA, Alexandre Tourinho, highlighted the importance of the debate with society. "The Public Ministry of the State of Pará has sought to take the lead in measures not only for COP30 but also for the consequences of COP30. We know that COP30, as an international event, is temporary, and afterwards we will continue here and will have consequences, most of them very positive, but opportunities are only useful if they are taken advantage of. So, we need, as the Public Ministry of Pará, to seize these opportunities and use them for the benefit of the population, making Pará an increasingly humane State," said the prosecutor.
COP 30 Volunteers - During the event, the Vice Governor announced the publication, in the State Official Gazette (DOE), of the opening of registrations for the Simplified Selection Process (PSS) aimed at selecting volunteers (4,000 vacancies) who will act in the institutional, logistical, and operational support activities of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30).
