This weekend, Saturday (24) and Sunday (25), integrated security actions carried out by agents from Base Candiru, who operate in the river area of Óbidos, resulted in the seizure of two vehicles with signs of tampering and the arrest of a man with an arrest warrant for robbery. The approaches occurred during inspections on two vessels navigating the Amazon River.

The operations are coordinated by the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the River Security Group (Gflu), with the aim of combating criminal activities on the state's river routes. Inspections are conducted continuously in the Lower Amazon region as part of the strategy to confront crime on the rivers.

“With the strategy of inspecting the rivers of our state daily, especially the Amazon River, in the Óbidos region, which is a route for those coming from the state of Amazonas, we have managed to maintain excellent productivity. Over the weekend, for example, we seized two vehicles with irregularities and identified a man with an arrest warrant issued for robbery. This shows that keeping these river areas under constant monitoring ensures effectiveness in combating crime, both in the transport of illegal goods and in capturing fugitives from justice,” highlighted the head of Segup, Ualame Machado.

Approaches

On Saturday (24), during an approach to the vessel “Monte Cristo II”, coming from Manaus heading to the municipality of Alenquer, agents from the Military and Civil Police, Fire Department, Federal Revenue, and Gflu identified irregularities in two vehicles transported on the ferry boat. A car and a motorcycle showed alterations in the chassis and engine numbers. The vehicles were seized and taken to the Civil Police unit at Base Candiru for legal procedures.

On Sunday afternoon (25), during an inspection of the vessel “Itapereba”, which was traveling from Manaus to Belém, the agents checked the documents of the passengers. During the verification, a man with an open arrest warrant issued by the 1st Criminal Execution Court of the Manaus District for robbery was identified. The suspect was detained and taken to the police unit, where he remains at the disposal of justice.
