The confirmation of the release of funds for the expropriation of the area where the Santarém Industrial District will be built was positively received by the local productive sector. The project, which represents a milestone for the economic development of western Pará, is coordinated by the Pará Economic Development Company (CODEC) and is primarily funded by the State Government, in partnership with the Santarém City Hall.

ACES and Regional Government Secretary of Baixo Amazonas: Industrial District

The president of the Santarém Commercial and Business Association (ACES), Alexandre Chaves, celebrated the news as a turning point for the business sector in the region. “This is a historic moment. The Industrial District is an old dream of the productive class in Santarém, and the release of these funds shows that this dream is becoming a reality. We thank Governor Helder Barbalho, Secretary Hanna Gassan, and Regional Secretary Nélio Aguiar, who has always been by our side in this fight,” he emphasized.

The Industrial District will be implemented in an area of 175 hectares, located between BR-163 (Santarém-Cuiabá Highway) and PA-370 (Santarém-Curuá-Una Highway), and is planned to accommodate 125 lots designated for industries, bioindustries, agroindustries, logistics, non-metallic mining, commerce, and services. The goal is to organize the industrial growth of the region and attract companies to an environment with adequate infrastructure, environmental safety, and legal security.

According to the Regional Secretary of Government of Baixo Amazonas, Nélio Aguiar, the advancement is a collective achievement. “The Industrial District is a historic struggle of the productive sector of Santarém and the entire region. With the release of these funds, we take a giant step for this project to come to fruition. This is an action that involves dialogue, articulation, and the state government's commitment to the future of Western Pará,” he stated.

The new district will be built on a space of 175 hectares

According to Nélio, the expropriation process began on October 18, 2024, when Governor Helder Barbalho signed the authorization for the takeover of the area. “Today, we advance to a crucial stage: the release of funds for the realization of the expropriation. This will allow CODEC to take possession of the area and begin the subsequent phases of the project,” he explained.

For Alexandre Chaves, the District will boost economic growth, being more structured and sustainable. “In addition to attracting new businesses, the project will strengthen the bioeconomy and biotechnology, sectors that are expanding and have great potential for our region. The support from the State Government was fundamental for this to happen.”

The enterprise represents a new chapter for the industrialization of western Pará, consolidating Santarém as a strategic hub for regional development.

“We know that Pará is a state with continental dimensions, but we also know that we have a governor who looks attentively at all regions. The Santarém Industrial District is more than an infrastructure project. It is a commitment to employment, income, and progress,” concluded Nélio Aguiar.
