HJB values the protagonism of the Nursing team during the I Symposium for Employees
The event celebrated the category's dates and reinforced integrated actions aimed at patient safety and professional appreciation

Between May 12 and 16, the Hospital Jean Bitar (HJB) held the I Symposium for Employees, focusing on the integration of institutional actions and the appreciation of the Nursing team, a key player in health care. The program marked the celebrations for Nurse's Day (May 12) and Nursing Technician's Day (May 20), honoring professionals who work on the front lines of patient care.
With the theme "Caring is living", the Symposium included activities in the morning, afternoon, and evening shifts, and integrated actions from Nursing Week, the Internal Week for the Prevention of Work Accidents (SIPAT), Handwashing Week, and initiatives aimed at Patient Safety.

"The proposal was to provide moments of learning, exchange of experiences, and reflection, always focusing on the appreciation of the worker, safety, and the quality of care provided. It was an opportunity to bring employees even closer to the management of the unit," highlighted Alexandra do Carmo, the HJB's assistant manager.
Reference team in specialized care
The Nursing team at HJB consists of 137 professionals – including 28 nurses and 109 nursing technicians – who provide care to users with diverse assistance profiles. Among the specialties, treatments for gastrointestinal diseases, obesity, diabetes, otorhinolaryngological surgeries, and comprehensive care for the transgender population stand out.

In just the last four months, the hospital recorded more than 154,581 services, including consultations, exams, surgeries, and hospitalizations.

For Cley Trindade, a nursing technician with seven years of experience at the hospital, the Symposium had a direct impact on professional practice. "The event came to improve our management with users, facilitate communication, and ensure more safety for the patient. All of this contributes to the quality of the work we deliver every day."
Patient testimony reinforces humanized care
Retiree Sebastiana Vera Ferreira, 60, a resident of Belém, was one of the beneficiaries of HJB's services. After undergoing bariatric surgery at the unit, she is in the postoperative phase and celebrates the results of the change in her health.

"I once weighed 123 kg and now I weigh 80 kg. I thank the professionals for their support during this journey. May they continue with this beautiful humanized work they do through the Unified Health System. It is more important than anything else. And I want to thank for all the times I was very well attended within the program. Congratulations to everyone," said the beneficiary.
Among the highlights of the event was a lecture given by the Executive Director, Giovani Merenda, on the topic: 5 crucial points in the management of the health unit for the prevention of legal disputes. According to the hospital manager, the lecture addressed an essential topic for nursing practice, highlighting the importance of the medical record as a defense instrument for all those involved in patient care.
“By raising awareness among the team about the most common errors and the best practices to avoid legal disputes, we reinforce the need for accurate and organized records, ensuring safety for both professionals and patients. The great interest shown by the participants highlights the relevance of the topic and the positive impact of this initiative on hospital routine,” he concluded.
Commitment to training and excellence
By combining training, recognition, and integration, Hospital Jean Bitar reinforces its commitment to the continuous education of its professionals and to excellence in user care.
