The Government of Pará delivered, this Thursday (15), the first stage of the reconstruction works of Praça Menino Deus, in the municipality of Marituba, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The intervention is part of an agreement between the State, through the Secretariat of Planning and Administration (Seplad), and the Municipal City Hall of Marituba.

In this first phase, the areas of the pet place, a space dedicated to leisure with pets, a sensory garden with plant beds that stimulate the five senses, and a sensory trail were delivered.

In addition to the square, the Government of Pará delivered a new security totem. The equipment aims to enhance the response to incidents and expedite the service provided by security forces in the city. It was installed in Praça Menino Deus, in the center of Marituba, and offers a greater angle and visual coverage of the spaces, significantly contributing to the video monitoring of the city.

“This partnership between the State Government and the City Hall allows for the realization of an important agenda for Marituba. The new Praça Menino Deus consolidates itself as a space for families to gather, encouraging commerce, leisure, and sports practice, all with safety,” highlighted Governor Helder Barbalho.

Various equipment in the square also underwent improvements: the skate park received new paint and flooring; the outdoor gym had its equipment replaced; the playground gained a concrete base for the swings, and the sports courts were rebuilt with new paint and replacement of the sand. New kiosks and container bathrooms were also installed, replacing the previous structures.

The second phase will bring a food court, inclusive spaces, and an interactive fountain

In the next stage of the works, the project includes the construction of a food court, installation of arches at the main entrance, and implementation of an interactive fountain in honor of Maria Fumaça, one of the historical symbols of the municipality. The “Blue Square” will also be implemented, a space designed especially for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), in addition to the modernization of the Menino Deus monument and the Acoustic Shell, aimed at hosting cultural events.

A resident of Marituba for 35 years, Cristina Leite celebrated the revitalization of the space. “Our square now has a new look. It needed this transformation for many years, and now it is a reality. I am sure that families, especially children, will enjoy it a lot. I thank Governor Helder for the work he is doing throughout Pará,” she said.

“We cannot always execute everything solely with our own resources. This partnership with the State Government, through Governor Helder and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, strengthens our work and delivers more security, mobility, and social integration. Even with only 30% of the project completed, Praça Menino Deus is already a landmark for our city,” stated the Mayor of Marituba, Patrícia Alencar.

The merchant Janete Souza, who has been working in the square for 25 years, also celebrated the new structure. “For a long time, there was almost nothing here. Now we have a dignified space to work and receive customers. Sales, which are already good, will improve even more. It is an immense satisfaction to see this happening.”

The first stage of the work received an investment of R$ 2,205,838.85. The total value of the project is R$ 6,487,761.42, with R$ 5,838,985.28 coming from the Economic Development Fund (FDE) and R$ 648,776.14 as a counterpart from the City Hall of Marituba.

The initiative is part of the plan to support the infrastructure of Emater units in the interior of the State, aiming to enhance the mobility of technical teams and ensure greater efficiency in serving rural producers in the region.

“In addition to delivering the first stage of Praça Menino Deus, we are also strengthening family farming with the delivery of a vehicle to Emater and installing a public safety totem to reinforce the fight against crime in Marituba,” emphasized the governor.

At the end, a Technical Cooperation Agreement was signed between Emater and the City Hall of Marituba, aimed at promoting sustainable rural development through the integration of institutional efforts.
